' August 9th is coming '

Morning fellow Bluebirds / Its August 1st today :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

viewforum.php?f=2 :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

In case you had forgotten, the window this year closes on August 9 - although clubs will still be able to sell players abroad and Scotland until the end of the month as no other leagues apart from the English ones have adopted the new changes.

That means there are just nine more days for Neil Warnock to add to his squad before their return to the Premier League.

Watford striker Troy Deeney is the latest name to be linked, while a deal for Liverpool's Marko Grujic remains top of Cardiff City's agenda this summer.

In terms of departures, Lee Tomlin, Omar Bogle, Anthony Pilkington, Stuart O'Keefe and Lee Camp could all be heading for the exit.

Plenty of time to get in the players we need :bluescarf:

Not so bad for us. I can see the foreign teams buying some of the star names from the top teams but can't see who from our squad they'd be likely to want, so has no effect.

We just need to make sure we do our business in the next 7 days, and add a few loans after if needed.

Once the window shuts there are no loans allowed next window is January I believe

NOT ENOUGH TIME TO RECRUIT NEW FACES AND GET THEM BEDDED IN AND GELLED IN TIME IN MY OPINION. :bluescarf:

By waiting though the players and agents can squeeze more out of clubs as they get increasingly desperate.

"bedded in"
"gelled"

buzz words that mean absolutely nothing.

Its over a week, its over a quarter of the January transfer window.

If they don't gel straight away then they are benched until they are ready. Every club will be in the same boat, the last few days of the window will be manic and probably the time when a lot of players will become available as other teams buy.

personally I hope we are still in a position to be buying or loaning on deadline day.

if Warnock has targets A,B,C,D and E and has to wait while things develop at the clubs they are currently with, are you suggesting he should just right them off go further down the list and sign J,P and Z ..JUST SO THEY CAN GELL AND BED IN..?

The point I was trying to make is that with approx one week left any new signings will not have had a chance to have settled in so that they can hit the ground running by start of the season.
Have we missed out by waiting and waiting on Grujic for example when we could have had another player on board who by now would have met the other players, played a few friendlies and be ready for what lies ahead? I still believe in Warnock and trust him to get it right. :bluescarf:

we just dont know what goes on mate....maybe he has been promised Grujic..maybe he just has fingers crossed, maybe weve worked our nuts off to bring players in just for a host of reasons they have not worked out....Cardiff looks a pretty good place to come to us..favs for relegation and only signed a few championship players we probably look far less attractive to young pros on the fringes of other prem clubs ?

We have done our main business early with Reid, Murphy and Cunningham and they have bedded in and are ready to hit the ground running.

It was always the case that further loan signings would go down to the wire. Going on the Callum Paterson experience from last season it is not always a bad idea to have players match fit after the season has started and giving us further new options around October/November time

The Grujic saga has given me the right hump. We needed him in early to bed in with the squad, learn tactics, improve his fitness and curb his bad habits. Instead Klopp has taken him over to the US to fill places of WC players while on preseason tour, no intention of naming him in his 25... Next, Warnock openly says we have tabled a bid in some capacity, but stresses the agent has deeper pockets. Lastly, Grujic himself - I respected the lad for flying back for the open top bus celebration- showed real commitment and desire to be a part of CCFC, but his interview was plain stale. He stated he was flattered but waiting to see... at this point in time I am glad we are being linked with other potentials for the much needed DM and MC roles...we’ve 8 days left until the window of opportunity closes...
