As times gone on I think the deals stalled he's not 100% committed and don't feel he'll be joining us. Just wondering what the majority feel.

my feeling is i hope its settled one way or another soon as the endless talk is getting tiresome.

I suppose City are looking at the cheaper option of bringing him in on loan and paying his wages/part of but the way it’s dragged on perhaps it would have been worthwhile to get a similar player in for pre season.

The start of the season is nearly upon us and by all reports Gunner isn’t up to speed at the moment. Could have done with another player coming in 2/3 weeks ago as this episode has just dragged on.

I’ll think he will sign on loan,makes a lot of sense in all involved.
What concerns me a bit is the way he fell out of favour at the end of last season including the final game.

Totally agree, it was nothing to do with ability, I think his inexperience told in the last few games.

He was always just one rash challenge away from a red card, so quite rightly as it turned out Warnock turned to his more experienced and trusted players

Agree, we need a player in by Saturday so at least he can get one pre season friendly under his belt

By the same logic wouldn't he have joined Lazio by now if he wanted to join them. I think these deals are a lot more complex than that, firstly it's out of his hands anyway. I haven't seen anything to suggest he doesn't want to play for us or that he wouldn't give 100% if he did join us.

His agent is probably advising him to hold on as long as possible to get the best deal. Wonder what sort of pre-season he's had.

Maybe the club is waiting to last minute to save on wages? Afterall he hasn't gone elsewhere and if agent was that good he would have him sign for another club before now? Looking at other clubs it looks like a lot of last minute deals going to be done.

ive read this a number of times on here , dont get this train of thought, and never heard it before over a loan signing.surely his wages from the Liverpool contract stand and its a matter who pays what percentage of those wages between ourselves and Liverpool..
any money we are prepared to pay over and above would surely go to his club in form of loan fee.?

players dont just waltz into the managers office...oi mr manager bloke dont bother taking me to the USA or France i fancy a loan to Lazio..
your putting the cart before the horse mate....a player will only be given the choice in where to go on loan if the club holding the contract give him the choice..

I also think Liverpool wanted to see him in pre-season to see how he has progressed before making a final decision on him. Also they probably wanted to get through most of pre-season to see if they avoided injuries. As people well know if you get an injury in pre-season it is likely to impact you for the rest of the season, even if you recover missing part of pre-season puts you at a disadvantage. Few loans are done very early in the transfer window for these reasons.

Anyway, if he comes I think it will be on loan and I think he will do well for us. His time with us last season will have toughened him up a bit and that will benefit him this year. Saying that, I won't be too upset if he doesn't come as long as we have a decent replacement, such as gosling.

Was thinking more about a possible permanent move somewhere, but you make a good point regarding a loan, to us, or anywhere else.

permanent yes makes sense..
but i have read an article by a journo on here suggesting this haggling for more cash thing..
made me think..if a player could get his wages plus more off a loaning club they would all want to be on loan..

Think Liverpool want to sell but no one really wants to pay £20 mil quoted. Cardiff want to loan, mabe option to buy for something like 5-10mil? So hope someone makes a decision and its sorted cause the window is closing soon.

Liverpool have included him in both squads for trips to the USA and France...while leaving others youd expect to be taken out..
based on what happens at most clubs including ours { tomlin ,camp,pilks etc with the u23s not the 1st team } sounds to me like he is closer to being kept than unwanted...

This endless press nonsense seems to be exaggerating his importance. Yes he's got some potential , but you couldn't say fir certain that he'd get in the team - he didn't always in the championship and Liverpool don't play him in the premiership

I'd have been for taking him in the hope that he'd develop and be a useful player in a few months, but at this stage I'd tend to tell them to keep him.

Mind you, I'm guessing that Sir Neil knows he's coming, or he'd have made other arrangements by now
