What a goal!

Mendez-Laing scored absolute stunner! Curled into the top corner from 30 yards.

In the end the 5-1 scoreline was convincing for @CardiffCityFC and apart from Peltier (whose departure seemed a precaution following knock on the head), the Bluebirds seemed to end injury free.

FT 1-5 :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Excellent result against a team who play for the shirt - goals confidence Mendez Laing may shock a few Premier League teams this season - two new additions in midfield and we are in good shape given the budget - Bluebirds !! :ayatollah:

There is some pace in that front four, decent defence too....just midfield that concerns me, can Gunnar cut the mustard this time?

To give my two-penneth here …

I thought that 1-3 at half-time flattered us a lot. Burton, to be fair, were the better team in the first half and had a few really good chances and could easily have been 2-0 up if a great shot hadn't hit the post. Their midfield completely dominated ours and were first to pretty much every ball.

As far as I remember the first half, we had two shots on goal and managed to score three!

The second half belonged to City though and deserved the extra two goals.

As a sort of synopsis of player performances to my eyes (and I'm quite willing to be wrong!)

Zohore was at his most annoying worst, falling at every contact and checking himself all over for any sign of injury. He had some really heavy touches which gave away posession and is no way the target man that he is played as. When Madine came on, at least he was able to hold the ball up and, for me, did OK despite his light-hearted ribbing from the Cardiff fans!

I thought that Morrison and Sol were quite sluggish in the first half but improved in the second. I hate to say it because I really like him but I though that Gunnarson was poor throughout to unless I'm missing something.

Cunningham, Ralls and Hoilett were our better players in the first half and throughout their respective times on the field! Really impressed with their work, along with Mendez-Laing who worked well and showed his pace and skill on a number of occasions, again mainly in the second half, and scored an absolute peach that was in from the moment it left his boot!

The only other player I would like to make a special mention of is Josh Murphy who really got me excited every time he touched the ball. Despite only being on the field for 25 minutes, replacing Peltier after a nasty head collision, I was really impressed. [As an aside, it would have been interesting what would have happened with Jazz in CM as it seemed he was before Peltier's substitution.]

So, in all, great result but any Premier League team would have been 3 or 4 up within the first half an hour with the chances that Burton created and this is a worry.

It is still plainly there for all to see - we need two CMs and a Striker! It has been said on here many times and on that performance, that is spot on.

There were around 850 in total (despite the tannoy bloke claiming 8 thousand to begin with!!)

I would say that at least half of those were Cardiff.

Fair appraisal from you there but I certainly saw our two strikers differently. Ken played very well I thought and although not firing on all six I thought he gave their defence a torrid time throughout. Some of his lay offs after turning the defenders were class. I think he'll actually surprise many in the Premier. As for Madine well I thought his best period of the game was on the bench. On this performance the Premier may be several bridges too far for him. I would have liked to have seen Danny Ward today. I agree entirely about your opinion on the midfield; we really do need reinforcements fast.

Why did they have to wear that very dodgy change kit when the others didn't have any blue ?

quite heartened with second half display, first twenty minutes of first half we were easily second best, after that we grew and the class of some our players were I felt were too much for them. Although Murphy did not come on until late he showed in my opinion that he is destined to go far.
