All he does is play other people's music.

Why not stay at home, play the music you like to hear and save yourself £100

£100 to watch some old bloke playing records? I know I'm :old: but I saw some of the greatest bands playing live music in the 70's and rarely paid more than about £3.50!

Must admit I’m not a huge fan. Some people are though.

Now faithless would be a different kettle of fish.

BTW £3.50 in the 70s is over £200 quid now.

Fair play to the bloke for becoming famous and making a damn good living playing other people's records.

I wonder how much he charges to do weddings?

A load of people who were never there back in the day, probably frowned upon those going to real raves and Ibiza on holiday early 1990’s. I hope the hail and thunder soaks the phoney twats. More fool them for paying so much eh :old:

Before he was a producer he was a musician so yes he doesn't just push buttons.

I'm assuming you know nothing about making music so I won't bother trying to explain the complexities of production!

Thanks for enlightening me.

I know quite a bit about making music. It usually involves writing music and lyrics and if you are sufficiently talented, playing an instrument or two yourself and maybe singing if your voice is decent.

Or you can play other people's music like a DJ does, maybe "remixing" them so that they sound a bit different from how they were originally recorded but having no input into the creation of the music yourself.

Remind me which hit records Pete Tong has written and recorded himself please?

Not all Djs play other peoples music :laughing5:
Not a big fan of Pete Tong myself but I do appreciate a good DJ.

I used to produce and DJ back in the day so can tell you Ding and producing isn’t easy at all, I still have friends producing and engineering, a few of them do stuff for adverts, Toyata, BMW, Persil, its nuts. Early 2000’s till about 2006, Hardhouse and Hard Trance, can’t stand house or this crappy techno that is being hammered about these days but 1998-2000 is and always will be the best years for trance music.

As for Pete Tong, personally does nothing for me, well overrated and got his name from being an early man DJing for R1 – nothing special about him, a few mates saw him on Saturday and said it was sh*te.

Even an old :old: like me knows that! Indeed, that bloke Guetta and the fella who died (Avicci?) were both "DJ"s who made their own music.

My point was that Pete Tong did not make his own music - he just plays and fiddles around with other people's music.
