Pre-season has been a bonding process for the Bluebirds who have even gone on a fishing trip

Cardiff City's pre-season has been as much about building team spirit as it has working on their fitness and form.

It's the reason Neil Warnock likes taking his teams to Devon and Cornwall, to get away from the goldfish bowl and ensure his squad is a tight unit.

This Bluebirds incarnation are often described as a "close bunch" with good team spirit and it's good to see that attitude is not deserting them even as they prepare for a Premier League season.

Not judging from recent videos posted by the likes Joe Bennett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing from Instagram anyway, which showed the infamous initiation songs being performed by Bobby Reid, Greg Cunningham and Alex Smithies.

Youngster James Waite was even made to do a song too, as the Bluebirds players got together at Champneys Springs in Leicestershire where they're staying this week between pre-season games against Rotherham United and Burton Albion.

The highlights were Reid's rendition of Mario's Let Me Love You, while Waite did a sterling version of The Script's Man Who Can't Be Moved.

Cardiff's fun and games hasn't stopped there this week, with Bennett also posting pictures and videos from a fishing trip they enjoyed too.

Lee Peltier looked the most proficient by the fishing lake, with Callum Paterson having a few problems.

It’s awesome to see the team bonding so well at Cardiff. The new lads have assimilated effortlessly, Warnock has done a great job with matching young talent with complimentary personalities. I think we are all on tenderhooks for the midfield to be sorted out. I know that some fans are panicking about the strikers we currently have, but for me as I stated earlier in the summer - I feel the goals will be coming from all over. Madine is receiving the brunt of it for his lack of goals but maybe we should look at Giroud and France winning the WC. Madine can do a similar job with regards to hold up play and aerial threat. Now is not the time to chop down the players’ confidences. I’m not confident in Pelts and Gunnar’s, said my piece at the end of last season and if that’s the best we got going into Prem then I wish them the best and get behind them (until January when I’ll likely have a wee rant).

Two weeks and we get to see BLUEbirds in the Premier League!!!
