Leeds to Sign 11m Hitman

Should we be going in for a player like this ? Surely better than any striker we got, I’m not including Reid as a striker.

He’s had two chances in the Premier League - with West Brom and very briefly with Watford - and it hasn’t worked out for him.

Very good at Championship level though, so I’m surprised that Derby are happy to let him go. Think he’s much better than Waghorn.

Lampard doing a NW getting rid players not suited to his thinking and getting in cheaper but more suited players think he will do well :old:

Guess that Reid will play just behind Zohore/Madine but did a similar post about Vydra a few weeks back. Always scoring goals so would be useful to play alongside Zohore or just behind. Suppose seen to be very similar to Reid.

I suppose it's a gamble either way. Vydra is definitely proven at Championship level but nobody could claim he was a success at Prem level.

Zohore hasn't totally convinced at Championship level in terms of goal scoring but certainly adds a lot to the team when fully fit. However is completely untested at Prem level.

Personally I think Zohore will prove to be a real handful at the higher level simply because defenders won't be able to batter him like he experienced in the Championship.

Just my opinion but a certainly don't think Vydra is worth anywhere near £11m so not really bothered about Weeds burning that cash.

I think the total opposite. Zahore won’t have a sniff imho, not good enough for Prem level, didn’t Cornelius get picked over him for the World Cup says it all really, zahore a poor mans Cornelius ?

All about opinions so only a few weeks to wait to find out.

One thing that you have to have in the Prem as a striker is pace, Zohore has that and neither Cornelius or Vydra have.

My one worry about Zohore is whether his finishing is good enough but in the first few games just watch the numbers of balls Warnock will be getting us to play over the top of the backline for Zohore to get on the end of.

Not sure you've got your judgement right there mate. Both players came to us untried and untested,we all know how Acorn turned out and it cost us 8 mil in the process. Not so with big Ken who deserves his chance because he's done enough to be given a chance where as it was clear from the outset that Acorn could not cut it at the time.I'll admit that Acorn has gone on to have moderate success in europe but even so would sill not cut it in the prem. As for national representation its like comparing apples with peas(2 totally different styles)and I just think that Acorn provided a "Lump it up to 2nd option".

And then theres the Vydra thing. If memory serves Derby struggled for goals generally until they got 3 against us and although he got some important goals he doesn't look like he's got 20 goals a season in him so its good business by Lampard.

Vydra got 21 goals and 4 assists last season. Not bad for just 2,807 mins played (over 1,200 minutes less mins than Reid and 3 more goals). If we paid £10M for Reid, £11M for for Vydra sounds about right to me. I think we should be going after him

Was he injured not to get so many minutes or just not picked?

We have Reid now so I don't see any reason to go for Vydra.

Light years ahead of Madine (who isn't?), but I think his best days are behind him. £11 mill is peanuts these days but I'd hope we'd try to get better. I'm rapidly getting despondent though and I hope something positive happens soon.
