Rotherham and the formation

The result of the Rotherham game doesn’t concern me at all, while I would love us to win every game at this point of preseason its all about the fitness. I have seen us have brilliant pre-seasons and then start the season poorly and have a poor pre-season and then have a brilliant start to the season.

Another thought is next season we will most likely be the underdogs in pretty much every game in the league which I think will suit us. However in games against the likes of Torquay and Rotherham we aren’t playing to the same style. We have to take the game to them which I doubt we will be doing come the start of the season.

The game all of a sudden seems to have drawn attention to the fact the squad is pretty thin and lacking quality in key areas, especially midfield. I’m not sure why as its been pretty obvious since last season we needed to strength midfield as a priority not make it weaker. Still plenty of time of the window left but I’d be happier if we got 1 of the midfielders needed in asap as Ralls on his own can’t do it all and the others who play his position are not up to it.

I did notice we also tried five at the back again with wingbacks, maybe it’s just me but we seem to struggle every time we play it, while I think we have the players who can play in a back three for whatever reason we seem to struggle, some managers like and get certain formation. I don’t think Warnock knows how to get the best playing in a back five.
