We seem to be the only club not to be buying players from abroad for what reason i don't know considering there's more choice and cheaper the whole of the prem is full of foreign players we seem to be uk market only are we missing a trick, murph £11 mill reid £10 mill is there no players from abroad that we could find for less but just as good if not better. Just curious why we seem not to be signing anyone from Europe.

We tried that last time didn’t get us very far

Isn't there a Warnock quote that he will actively seek out British players?
Not sure what his reason was though.

I think Sir Neil is re introducing the English game, and so far it's working. It remains to be seen whether that'll work in the premiership but it certainly confounded the doubters last season. What's more it worked very well for those teams which employed it in the World Cup , particularly Japan who got much further than they'd have expected.
That's the big question isn't it ? Can direct simple football with a big ariel element succeed against a bunch of pirouetting Nancy boys with strange haircuts ,earnings and unimaginable salaries ? I hope it can and I think it might actually , but there's no point in importing Carlos Fandango from Fray Bentos for £40million and expecting him to tackle back every time or enter into battles with defenders in the air on rainy days. He MIGHT be able to do circus tricks with a football now and again if he feels like it that day, but we don't know till he arrives in his personal jet and that's no good for our style anyway.
More than anything else, it might easily upset the fantastic commitment and club spirit in the dressing room and THAT is a thing money can't buy.

You suspect that foreign players of standard we are looking for don't have the work rate that NW wants?

I fear for us next season, I think our summer transfer business has been; and is continuing, to be poor, Reid, Murphy and Cunningham are not tried at premiership level, Grujic has only played a handful of minutes, we don’t have a right back and he doesn’t seem to be after one, and our missing piece striker is gonna chasing more high balls; to bigger and better centres halves, than Zahore had to last year. Any decent side, and I believe they are 17 better than us, will break through the centre of Ralls and Gunnar, or Ralls and Grujic or Grujic and Gunnar, will then reak to our right, skin pelts or manga or Richardson because two are not good enough and 1 is a centre half.
I don’t understand why we have rewarded Connolly who didn’t really do anything last year, players like him should have been released moved on.
I am not a fan of any other team like most, so I am not looking forward to seeing my two teams play in the top flight. I want to see Cardiff win and we currently don’t have the players.
Anyone believing we will be ok based on last years style of play and who we have is deluded, we punched well above our weight last year, we rode our luck and ground out results due to a lack of quality and some poor starts to be season for other sides.
Just my opinion of course, I appreciate many of you are more than happy and believe we will get many points from the first 6 games, I think we will be lucky to get 4. I believe we will get 2 draws, I hope to be proved wrong and take a shed load of abuse for being negative.

How ironic that the only non-English team in the prem will have the most English players. Giving young English players their opportunity like Reid & Murphy.
They're lucky if they get 1 English player playing for the likes of Chelsky & Arsenal!
Would love it if we could get a few Welsh boys through our system.

Etheridge, Bamba, Manga, Damour, Gunnar.. all foreign. I wouldn't say we have an English only policy. Not all of our previous foreign players have been bad either, some were pretty effective. Maybe he's not seen any he likes the look of?

We are highly likely to be fighting off relegation all season. Traditionally, it is felt that high paid overseas players down tools in the cold and dark days of winter when you need to grind out an away 0-0 draw. Last time, even Gary Medel lost heart in the last couple of months of the season

I think he means more along the lines of signed from the English league.
Warnock didntg sign Manga or Gunner originally so that leaves Demour as his only "foreign" signing.

You usually find that a manger will sign what he knows he can work with, unless you have a director football or a chairman that makes all the signings. Wolves have signed a lot of Portuguese players etc. We won't be playing Tippy tappy football. We will play direct and on the counter attack. He's signed players that suit his system. Pacey and powerful.
I don't share all the negativity. Yes we will play differently from a lot of the teams in the prem. I think that will be to our advantage. Teams wont be used to our style. No one will like playing us as they're going to have to dig deep to get a result. At least we have a clear plan. We made our signings early and they've all had a full preseason. I would like to see one more prem level CM and I think either Grey or Deeney would make a massive difference to our chances.

Agree with all that except the last bit, think we need more than that but totally agree about our style of play being an advantage. Fulham might tap it around nicely in the championship but come to the prem and they have better players and better teams who like to tippy tap it about.

I'm sure we will have most British players on display in our starting 11 in the Premier?

Yes but a problematic player never fulfilled his potential so no place to experiment with him?

Yes probably did but they didn't beat us over 46 games!
