Can't help but wonder whether Forest are doing a Villa and gambling massively this season on trying to buy their way out of the Championship.
Seem to be spending " big " both on transfers and if the speculation is right, loan signings.
Latest link is a season long loan for West Ham's Sam Byram.
Would love NW to go and buy Byram, West Ham don't seem to want him, so could be a reasonable buy, BUT, he's supposed to be on £25k per week plus £5k appearance bonus.
I know West Ham would be subsidising part wages, but how on earth can Forest be a good move for him.
All seems a bit disjointed to me, when Championship teams can get numerous "Premiership" players in on loan, but actual Premier League teams are limited to two.

Definitely a risk but only a villa scenario if they fail

Agree wholeheartedly, but a huge risk, Championship next season is probably the strongest it's been for a long time, lots of clubs gambling on getting out.
Gonna be a ding dong battle, and lots of casualties along the way.
So glad we haven't got to go through it, but I for one will enjoy seeing how it all unfolds.

Forest had a transfer embargo a couple of seasons ago. Since then they have sold their top players and have bought in hardly anything. So they are back at the start line and can go £39m overspend. I'm not sure what they have bought but I believe they have plenty in contingency.

Odds are against them going up, so going to be in big trouble again. I have no sympathy for teams like Villa, the league need to give heavier sanctions and if they decide they’ve broken the rules but they’ve already started life in the Premier League, then a deduction of 10 points would be fair.
That would go some way to stopping it.

Think they are Ok regarding FFP rules because in last eighteen months they have sold Assambolonga to Boro and the young lad who I cant even remember his name to Borussia or Bayern. Raised best part of 30 million.

The £39m that you refer to though Bakedalasker is the maximum loss that a club is allowed over a period of three seasons, it seems to me that a lot of the Championship clubs are not budgeting their wage structure to their income in line with a three year term, but are gambling on escaping, and if they don't are then being put in the precarious position of having to sell off their better players to balance the books aka Derby County, Forest and most publicly Villa, this season.
Problem with this type of boom or bust mentality, is that if for any reason, success ie. promotion is not achieved, then austerity and possible relegation becomes a very real probability.
TBH, Cardiff may well have been very close to having to decimate the current squad, if they hadn't been promoted, so there but for the grace of God.
It really has become quite endemic of the modern day, that a lot of clubs are gambling the long term futures for the riches that are on offer at the Premier league table.
IMHO,it is only a matter of time before a supposed "big" club actually goes out of existence.

Thanks for those links Igovenor, very informative and shows the extent of mismanagement/covering up that was going on at QPR at the time.
I personally can't see how QPR are going to be able to keep going when the time eventually comes that they HAVE to pay the FFP fine.

i have loads of sympathy with all the clubs who have had points deducted and huge fines...
the one constant at every club is us fans..players managers owners boards change and change again..its not the fans fault that any club is poorly run and more often than not those responsible for any breaches in rules have long gone when the sanctions hit...

It was 'strong' and 'competitive' last year, as the final table showed!
It was our resolve and consistency that got us promoted; not the fact that everyone else was crap!
Some credit and respect due to Neil Warnock and his staff (coaching and playing) for that!

Stoke are the ones playing with Fire, seem to be buying everyone and still kept most of their team from last year including shaquiri.

There has to be a punishment for breaking the rules, especially ffp, after all its the fans, who I do have sympathy for, may see their club go to the wall if they overstretche themselves financially, and we’ve been down that road remember, not nice. The league has the best interests of the club at heart here, so there has to be a strong deterrent.
40 mill for QPR was a bit ott in my opinion, but if a team is already been promoted to the premier and can’t be stopped then a 10 mill deduction from the premier payout they receive plus a 20 point deduction should nip it in the bud. If a team doesn’t get promoted then a lesser fine, transfer embargo and a points deduction of 10 points should do it.
The 20 points I gave to teams promoted to the pl would almost certainly mean relegation, a punishment fitting the crime imo.

all i see is the wrong people { us fans } having to take the brunt of the sanctions, as for FFP.???????..seems to me some clubs aree far better at wangling loopholes than others..it certainly dont seem fair and on the level.
