A lot has been said about the need for a proven Premier League quality PROVEN goalscorer.
This is a list, club by club of their top scorers last season.
MAN CITY:- AGUERO 21
MAN UTD.:- LUKAKU 16
SPURS :- KANE 30
LIVERPOOL:- SALAH 32
CHELSEA:- HAZARD 12
ARSENAL:-. LACAZETTE 14
BURNLEY:-. WOOD 10
EVERTON:-. ROONEY 10
LEICESTER:-. VARDY 20
NEWCASTLE:-. PEREZ 8
PALACE:-. MILIVOJEVIC 10
BOURNEMOUTH:-. KING 8 WILSON 8
WEST HAM:-. ARNAUTOVIC 11
WATFORD:-. DOUCOURE 7
BRIGHTON:-. MURRAY 12
HUDDERSFIELD:-. MOUNIE 7
SOUTHAMPTON:-. AUSTIN 7
SWANSEA:-. AYEW 7
STOKE:-. SHAQUIRI 8
WBA:-. RONDON 7
Glaringly shows the divide between Top 6 and the rest.
IMO, too much is being made of the need for a PROVEN Premier league goalscorer, the best strikers are already at top 6 clubs and are out of reach.
Apart from top 6, and VARDY & MAHREZ at Leicester, the top goalscorer was Glenn Murray at Brighton with 12.
IMHO, Zohore is just as good as Glenn Murray.

Glad someone has shed light on this. We didn’t have a 20 goal a season player last season but we still managed alright for goals, hopefully we can balance the goals out again this season.

Very good post.
Quite an eye opener really, a few of those for the likes of Murray and Milivojevic were penalties as well.

Glad to shed some light on the subject and hopefully allay some of the negativity regarding the lack of a "proven" goalscorer.
IMO, the "Warnock" way will be pretty successful in what is, taking the top six out of the equation, a pretty poor Premier League.
A 4231 formation playing counter attacking should ensure enough points for survival, and TBH, the signings thus far have been really encouraging. It seems to me that the emphasis has been on bringing in young, hungry players with pace,( which is the key thing ) who won't break the team spirit and the bank balance.
Let's be brutally honest, last season exceeded everybody's expectations and so even a season in the Premiership has set the club up really well to progress.
There's two scenarios, number 1, we stay up, then can look at maybe bringing in a couple of marquee singings next summer.
Number 2, relegation, but squad is infinitely stronger for Championship and wage structure is still reasonable, not like the likes of Villa/Swansea, and the squad can be kept intact with the parachute payments in place.
I think the way the hierarchy at the club are approaching things is the right approach and should be commended and embraced.

If Reid is completed then the two most key positions we need to sign are a RB and another CM. If we still have a bit of money after that then get another striker in to compete with Zohore or try to sign one on a free contract. Then we are sorted IMO. Good that we have already signed and look to be signing two more so early to get them jelled in pre season

What it shows is that to finish comfortable without a relegation fight you need a goalscorer who can score 10 goals a season at this level.
