Average signings

Wed Jun 27, 2018 12:29 pm

We have made some great championship standard signings but I’m sorry we don’t have 2/3 players of prem quality yet and I’m really worried!

Thanks

Sam

Huddersfield. Watford. Burnley. Etc all done well like this at first.

End of the day we need to be real. Signing a prem name will just come here for a pay day.

Warnock done well last year with a "poor" team. According to a few at the beginning of the season.

This is what Burnley did and NW has quoted this several times.
Chris wood a most recent example.

We don’t have the money mate! We have to try and find some rough diamonds with raw talent amongst the lower clubs and get them at low cost. In addition NW and co will also have to have the ability to see their potential and know they can get better things out of them. And you know what the job that it takes to find these players is a lot harder than having lots of money and thinking right I’ll buy any of these expensive players for 40-50 mill each and if we miss out we’ll go for 30-40 mill instead! The top clubs in the PL can afford extremely talented players and a whole squad of them which makes their managers job a little easier (not saying any of its easy). If Warnock pulls this off and what I mean by this is give us a good season in the PL finishing out of the bottom 3, he would have done the best job in the whole division compared with other managers because I don’t see any other club spending the small amounts that we are but we have no option. Let’s just enjoy it and see what happens we are way above where we expected to be, :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Pretty average signings last season as well but we pushed above our weight. Now we have to try and do the same.

Its no surprise we are picking from the championship, clearly we don't want big earners again. The bigger players id bet are on loan where we wont be tied to long contracts.

That looks the way NW is going, a couple of players with prem experience on season long loan. Makes sense, but we do need that experience.

Surely you cant say they are not premier league quality until they have been given a chance and played at that level

Re: Average signings

Wed Jun 27, 2018 1:24 pm

These players don't have Premier league experience. But don't mean they won't susceed in the Premier league.

"We don’t have the money mate"

When we've spent £10million on Murphy. £4million on Cunningham. Apparently the deal for Reid is £10million also. Then there's the rumour going around about Arslan, and that's another £9million.
I'm not sure how much he'd be priced at but I'd rather spend the £10million for Reid on Danny Ings. Only positive on Bobby Reid is that he's comfortable playing in a few positions

Jesus Christ.

You want us to sign 20/30 million pound players do you? We are Cardiff City ffs, I’m glad we’re cuttimg our cloth accordingly and I for one am very happy with what NW has done so far.

Look what happened last time we spent the earth. If we'd have not gone up we'd all be Looking at players leaving!
All because we over spent!

You have to worry don't you haha

I think quite the opposite. I’m excited for these signings. We’ve so far signed two of the best players in the champ, on the verge of signing another top GK, and Bobby Reid would be a great signing too.

Last time we spent big and look what happened. If NW believes in these players then I’m sure he an get the best out of them and they will know what’s expected of them. Look at last season, NML and Etheridge turned up under the radar, not expected to be starting week in week out and they excelled under NW.

I’m excited by these signings and looking forward to the season ahead, it’s not gonna be plain sailing but NW knows what he’s doing :ayatollah:

Jamie Vary had no Premier League experience and look what he achieved.

Apologies Jamie Vardy

What some people are forgetting is the extreme wages some of these 'targets' are on. The transfer fee isn't really the issue, see example above of comparing ings with Reid.. Even if you could get ings for 15m he would want 100k a week wages

I think its clear that's the road we are going down now. If we sign a star play on big wages it will be a loan where we only have to pay the big wages for a season.

Re: Average signings

Very happy with the signings so far, glad we not buying players which are coming to end of career on big wages.

Worse happens we go down these players we could hold on to.

Re: Average signings

Wed Jun 27, 2018 5:49 pm

This is the best way to approach promotion. Take a years cash from the Premier League, if you go down with 3 yrs parachute payments you can cope with financial fair play and have a top quality championship team to hopefully go straight back up where again you get an even better bank balance and can afford better players. Exactly the way Burnley did it.

Both signings have played in Prem.
