" For me Junior Hoilett "

For me Junior Hoilett is our best player and only one I would say on his day is Premier League standard out of our squad :thumbright: :bluebird:

It’s all about when he plays to his best :bluebird:

I’d argue we’ve got a few others.

Otherwise we wouldn’t have finished 2nd

Bennett, Ralls, Morrison, Bamba, all excellent players ..maybe Etheridge and Zohore too.

However Hoilett’s signing is a big one. He was our most creative player last season and I still think there’s more to come.

Tim, how come none of the them are not already knocking on the door of the Premier League? ?

Because we finished 2nd in Championship, that makes them Premier League players? ?

Warnock for me got them up and brought the best out of them :thumbright:

Zohore did not perform that well last season in the Championship, hit and miss, not consistent.

Neil Etheridge, yes he could do it as he is up and coming? :thumbright:

Joe Bennett might struggle?

Joe Ralls if Premier League would have been bought from us, but I would love him to prove me wrong.

Morrison one good season, a tough/leader for the Championship, no pace and not a Premier Player.

Sol Bamba makes way to many mistakes, will get badly punished in the Prem.

Just my opinion as a fan :thumbright: :bluebird:

Premier League? You cant really think of it as one league can you, as there are two levels, the top 6/8 and the rest, quality of player expected for the former is much greater than the rest, and is shown in the transfer fees and wages paid, partly shown in the Danny Inges thread.

This is what I was getting at yesterday about us needing to add some quality or we’ll be in trouble from the off. Some fans don’t see it for some reason
One poster even had the cheek to underplay a keepers role in the prem where as you say mistakes will be punished swiftly.

Being honest upsets some.

We need real quality as you really do get punished in the Premier League.

So because I have given my honest opinion and not been a sheep, I don’t care about City

It’s because I am so passionate and care is why I don’t want us to go straight back down.

In my opinion we need 4 or 5 established Prem players to join us.

With your comments you sound a very bitter person and must not know me as City were once my life for 43 years .

Our best signing of the summer so far. Although I’m impressed with Murphy and the upcoming arrival of Smithies, who I think will replace Etheridge as number one.

Premier League standard is ten times that of Championship standard. I would only say five of our squad from last season have it. Paterson, Hoilett, Bamba, Morrison and Ralls.

Paterson, especially. Feel he could be at a top ten club one day and can see us selling him on at some point for a big fee.

Ned,

I forgot Paterson could be good next season in the Premier League :thumbright: :bluebird:

Think he will be a star Annis. Even if we go down. His movement and goals is up there with some of the best midfielders.

A classic Warnock signing that we got him for a free.

Within reason, we don’t need the best individual players, we just need to play as a team. Our recent promotion season was based on an established back four who had played together the previous season and knew each other’s strengths and just as importantly, weaknesses. This platform will be important next season, hence Warnock’s insistence that we won’t be signing anymore defenders (other than Cunningham replacing Traoré).

I agree we need a couple of quality signings - ideally established Premier League players - to supplement what we already have and provide top flight experience, but too many signings could ruin the team ethos that Warnock has installed. I’d like to see two quality central midfielders and a striker added, with a few fringe players sent out on loan or sold.

Hoilett signing a new contract is a massive positive for Cardiff City as he epitomises the way we play with his fast and direct counter attacking style.

If I had to pick a player I think may surprise a few of us next season it would be Gary Madine, albeit from the bench on many occasions. His strength and general hold up play could cause a few problems for opposition defenders, especially with the addition of another quick winger in Josh Murphy to play off him. I appreciate many won’t agree on this forum.

Great post.

Many underestimate Madine but his strength will be key when we’re holding on to a point at places like Everton, Southampton etc.

I think there are a number of players who could hold their own in the top flight, it's a hard thing to try and gauge at this stage.

Morrison & Hoillet stick out for me. I expect Ralls and Paterson to do well too. NW's recruitment will prove vital as we all know, 3 or 4 players will not carry this squad in the Premier League but it doesn't mean that 3 or 4(or more) aren't Premier League quality.

Re: " For me Junior Hoilett "

Hoilett signing is excellent news. He was as consistent as any winger we have had in recent years and we all know wingers are the most inconsistent players on the pitch usually!

He definitely has something to prove in the Premier League and hopefully NW can help him reach his potential at that level.

The exciting thing for me is whether some of the other players can make the step up. It is a bit unknown really and I am sure there will be a few surprises. Ralls is one who 'could' in my opinion. Zorhore.. who knows? mendez-Laing?

NW seems to get the best out of players in the championship so this will also be a challenge for him.

We urgently need a recognised striker and in my opinion we will have to pay over £10mill for one, a striker will be vital :thumbright: :bluebird:

Could say that about anyone in the Championship.

The team finished 2nd and had we not gone up then Ralls, Bennett, Zohore and Morrison would have had Premiership clubs after them.

Can’t just be Warnock that got us in front of the likes of Fulham, Derby, Villa, Boro and all the top players they have got.

The stats for some of these lads were fantastic last season.

If Hoilett is the only Prem player we’ve got then we hav no chance.

Re: " For me Junior Hoilett "

Wed Jun 27, 2018 10:34 pm

Personally, I think Morrow, Bamba, Manga and Bennett will be fine in Prem. Bennett has pace that will always make up for positioning. As for two center backs being slow - it didn’t do Leicester any harm when they won their title. Huth and Wes Morgan coped just fine. Also love that we’ve signed Cunningham who can play both roles at the back and has some Prem experience already.

Zohore will be interesting this season, the Prem might suit him better to be honest.
