Torino upped their initial to £2.6m to £6.6m last week, but their interest has smoked out a bid from Cardiff.
The Premier League new boys were known to be admirers – along with the likes of Lyon and Galatsaray – and according to Gabonese website isport, they have bettered the Serie A club’s offer with a bid of £7m.
Ndong might be pleased to hear that because the indications were that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Watford, but never made it from the bench in the three games where he was selected in the matchday squad.
Ndong joined Sunderland for a club record £13m fee from Lorient on transfer deadline day in August 2016.
Could be true.

Cardiff City stump Turino in bid for Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong – reports

Cardiff City have moved ahead of Serie A side Torino in the race to sign Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong.
Neil Warnock met with Vincent Tan this week to discuss potential transfer targets and his transfer budget for the Premier League, with two potential signings being lined up.
The Italian club bid £6.6m for the Gabonese international but Cardiff has since bettered that according to ChronicleLive.
It is believed Cardiff have made a bid of £7m for Ndong, £400,000 more than what Torino have offered.
The player is keen to stay in England after making the move to England when he was a club record signing back in August 2016. He was since relegated with the Black Cats and joined Watford on loan in January but failed to make an appearance for the Hornets.
The Bluebirds were linked with a move with Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan this morning, along with a possible loan extension of Marko Grujic.
Cardiff City defender Bruno Ecuele Manga is his national team mate, with the pair both playing for the Gabon national team.
Central midfield is a position Cardiff may need to strengthen in, given that Iceland captain Aron Gunnarsson has yet to commit to a new deal with the South Wales club. Combative midfielder Greg Halford may be released by the club, but his future is uncertain.
This would leave Warnock to choose from just Joe Ralls, Callum Paterson and Loic Damour in the central midfield position.

Pointless getting into an auction for him. He’s not worth it. Sunderland overspent on loads of transfers.
