Everton appoint Marco Silva and expect ‘attractive, attacking football’

Thursday 31st May 2018

New Everton boss Marco Silva hopes to build a "great connection" between the players and fans after being confirmed as Toffees boss on a three-year deal.

The 40-year-old replaces Sam Allardyce, whose style of play came under constant scrutiny. He was sacked at the end of the season after six months in charge.

"I know what our fans expect - they expect results but not only results," Silva explained.

"I want our fans to be proud when they see our team on the pitch."

Everton finished eighth under Allardyce last term but their fans frequently expressed their displeasure at the lack of attacking flair - they scored 44 goals at just over a goal a game - under the former England coach, who replaced Ronald Koeman in November.

Totally disagree, as I have a feeling that he will be a big success. It's all a matter of opinion but I think he will get financial backing and have a busy transfer window.
A good chance of top 6 imho. I

Good appointment for the Toffees. Will be up to see the lads in between Cardiff home and away games when i can and budgets allowing!

Success for Silva will depend on the relationship he forms with the faithful, as we are a notoriously grumpy lot believe me. Personally, if has has good form on and off the pitch he’ll do great. There's a sniff of Martinez about him though - only time will tell. Everton demand technical football (see the club motto / school of science nickname), and honesty - Fat Sam was always everything an Evertonian would hate. Glad the fat cat has gone, but credit to him for keeping us up and finishing in top half.

Everton are mega bucks now and i feel Moshiri’s reputation as a credible ‘big club’ owner rests on this appt. the new boardroom appts are big as there has been something rotten going on and its filtered through the club. A very special team, as are the Bluebirds, i really hope it works out for Silva.
