Russell Slade to land a new job?

Former Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has had a rough time since leaving the Bluebirds, sacked by Charlton, Coventry and most recently Grimsby.

But he’s odds on at 4/6 with BetVictor to return to the dugout with Carlisle United. Keith Curle has left the League Two Cumbrians after four years in charge.

Hold fire a while Russ.

I've heard that if Real Madrid don't get their first choice (Paul Trollope) then you could be in with a shout.

It is also alleged that he is no longer on any sort of contract but instead his wages are calculated by the way of a taxi meter.

I wasn’t Russ’s biggest fan either but that guy to his credit came in after Ole’s mess and we finished just outside the play offs.

Agree with your sentiments 100%. I wasn't his greatest fan but he cant be said to have done a bad job here.

In fairness with what he was brought in to do and slash costs. Where we finished I think he did better than anybody could have expected. I would love to see how the likes of Mourinho and Guardiola would manage in that situation

Watching City during his tenure was like akin to being tortured by Sadam's secret police , awful ! I will take to my grave the bloke next to me who actually fell asleep.

Poor man victimised, I quite liked him, he was making progress ,only thing wrong he didnt have high enough profile to suit our fickle fans. Interestingly enough nobody complaining about our Neils much publicised style of play and Ilike him also.

I always remember the period that showed me that Slade was not up to it.

I was at the game where we got a creditable draw against the leaders Burnley at their place. We could have won that game and everyone was saying if we keep that going we will make the play offs. The next game we blew it by losing to Fulham where the tactics were oh so wrong. Slade use to use the term "fine lines" but here he made those lines very wide. I just could not see the likes of Warnock falling for that and it is why we are now back in the Premier.

bit unfair every manager gets games wrong. I was at the Preston away game under Warnock every fan that went there should have had a public apology they were that abysmal,I am still one of Warnocks greatest admirers, whose to say what Slade would have achieved [ I make no apology ] if it were not for our very bigoted fans .

I was at the Preston game, dreadful it was.

My point though was that Slade had the momentum and really should have kept it going but he changed things around. I doubt the likes of Warnock would have done that.

You talk about momentum,we lost four on the trot three of them very winnable , dont forget the the situation, Slade inherited a very disjointed club,I for one bought into his brick by brick philosophy while I would not swap him for Warnock its a shame he did not have the chance to build on what was a fairly successful season from the position in the table point of view.

Not too sure what you are implying with regards to losing 4 on the trot. Momentum is when you go on a 9 win streak.

Anyway Slade did inherit a disjoint but he also inherited a squad that cost quite a bit and had time to turn it around like Warnock has the same time.

I was making a parody at what you was saying in your own words about Slade losing momentum. About turning it around he done a respectable job. I am not saying that he is a better manager than Warnock He inherited too many clothes in the wardrobe the dressing room must have been horrible and to his credit he done well, had he not gone upstairs and left the running to care taking management things might have continued to improve instead the team went into free fall.

If we had a decent manager we would of been in those playoffs. Our players were definitely good enough it’s just he was way out of his depth.
