" Cardiff City Transfer Funds "

Tue May 29, 2018 5:03 pm

With the transfer window now open and the big guns starting to flex their muscles by making ‘big’ transfers what do you think is a reasonable figure for City to spend in this transfer window to fight the battle ahead?

Re: Transfer Funds

I think 35 million is whats needed and probably close to what Tan will give Warnock.

5 x £5million players to boost the squad in quality and quantity.

1 x £10million main striker to score the goals to keep us up.

Add 1 or 2 on loan and we will have a very decent squad not just for this season but the year after we should bounce straight back up if we do get relegated.

Probably not far out. Can see us looking for a couple of loans/freebies along with 3/4 permanent signings with a fee involved.

I’d go for a minimum of 4 top hungry players from the Championship and two experienced Premiership loan signings.

Re: Transfer Funds

Wed May 30, 2018 9:55 am

I'd spend 8 - 10mill on Jordon Hugill ( main striker, runs all day )
Spend 5 - 6 mill on Snodgrass ( RM to put pressure on NML )

Free agents
Massadio Haidara
Left-Back (competition for Bennett )

Gareth Barry
Defensive Midfield

James Morrison
Central Midfield

Wayne Hennessey
Keeper

Robert Huth
Centre-Back

Get Hoiletts contract sorted and I'd be happy with these additions to the squad.
Thoughts... ? :ayatollah:

Others to consider -

Bobby Reid
Attacking Midfield

Abel Hernández
Centre-Forward

David Meyler
Central Midfield

James Perch
Right-Back

Some good Premier League experience, would prefer Hernandez/Rondon to Hugill.

They will probably sat a staff budget of around 70 million and Warnock will have to work his magic probably have to sell some players as well

Re: " Transfer Funds "

Wed May 30, 2018 11:53 am

For me it has to be £40 mill plus if we want to survive, not really asking for a lot if you really want to stay up in the Premier League :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

16-25m I think seems reasonable, If I was Tan I wouldn't be giving Warnock anymore than that.

someone mention Hugill above, wouldn't surprise me as im sure Warnock had good things to say about him last season.

For me it has to be 40 million plus .Got promotion on cheap but a different ball game now.

Re: " Cardiff City Transfer Funds "

Wed May 30, 2018 12:08 pm

it is difficult to know exactly what the Transfer funds will be for Cardiff because we have not had over £10 Million to spend before, and listening to Warnock on TalkSport the other week he said that we will still have the lowest amount of money to spend in the top flight so this means that maybe it is about £10 Million or less.

Not a chance it'll be double 10 mill atleast.

Stephen, that type of spending does not get us in any financial trouble and the only way to try and stay up in the Premier League is by bringing quality players in :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Yeah but you could easily get Rondon Fabianski and another Midfielder from clubs like Crystal Palace Brighton Huddersfield Watford West Ham all within £10 Million

But I hope it is around the £15-£20 Million mark as this would be a solid investment for the Bluebirds

I hope we buy Hal Robson Kanu as he is welsh and Warnock could get his career back on track

Rondon is 12m alone...
Fabianski would be roughly 5 mill

There's your bank broken already mate :laughing5:

Kanu isn't good enough either.

I believe we will spend around 35m but will hope to accrue a few million to offload a few players who clearly won't make the jump up.

A few decent loans and he will get £30 to £40 million I think !!!!

Re: " Cardiff City Transfer Funds "

Wed May 30, 2018 1:03 pm

Think 36-45million is a reasonable investment. Anymore could make the financial situation/pressure a lot worse and a lot less and you are decreasing your chances greatly of staying in the Premier League. It’s so hard to get promoted so why not give it a good shot when you get there. Consider that 16-25m is totally insufficient. You would get very little for that sort of money unless you take a gamble on 6 players and uncover 6 gems.

Perhaps gamble on 1 or 2 players but not all of them. You need some experienced PL players coming in.

All of the promoted teams last year (all survived) spent over 33/34m in the summer, believe Brighton & Newcastle spent approx 33/34m and 36m whilst Huddersfield spent just over 43m.

Can’t compete with the top clubs who will all spend big but you have to give it a go otherwise back to the Championship and a slog again. Do you want a Premier League team or a Championship team? A ‘yo yo team’ just doesn’t work because it is very difficult to get out of the Championship.
