Car purchase

Hi I just wondered if anyone has experienced this before? My friend purchased a car from a dealers (well known make). The advertised milage was approx 700 miles different to what it is now as ready to go. Is this allowed? The garage stated that the advertised milage is what the previous owner had it valued at and it was recorded then on their system but then obviously did more milage before taking it to part ex it.

Odd selling it before owning it? What happens if dented before exchanging it? Normally car is on forecourt to be sold sounds dodgy.

Then when the previous owner bought it into the garage it had done another 700 miles...but they garage didn't update their system?

Don't think it would bother me. The difference is about a month's worth of use for the average driver. Neither here nor there really. It certainly would'nt put me off buying it.

You’ve put an extra 100 miles on it already.

Even if it was 10,400 as opposed to 11,000 miles it wouldn’t put me off or effect the price realistically.

What if it was advertised at 99301

The staff in the garages often use the cars, so this happens quite a lot !!!
