Bookies install Cardiff City as red hot favourites to sign Watford striker Andre Gray

BBC SPORT

Saturday 12th May 2018

A bookmaker has installed Cardiff City as the red hot favourites to sign Watford striker Andre Gray this summer.

After guiding the Bluebirds into the promised land of the Premier League, Neil Warnock vowed that he would give the stars that shone for him during the 2017-18 Championship campaign the chance to have a crack at the big time next term.

However, the veteran boss did confirm that he wanted to add to his squad, stating after his side's goalless draw with Reading that he wants to bring six fresh faces to Cardiff City Stadium over the close season.

And Bet Victor are offering odds of 1/1 for Gray to sign for Cardiff in the summer.

Brighton and Everton are both at odds of 10/1 to sign the forward over the coming months while West Ham and Leicester are slightly further back at 12/1 to secure his services.

The 26-year-old joined the Hornets from Burnley last summer and has scored five Premier League goals for Watford so far this season.

Gray netted 33 times in 78 appearances during his two seasons at Turf Moor while he has also had spells with Brentford, Luton, Hinckley United, Telford United and Shrewsbury Town.

It is understood that a new striker features prominently on Warnock's summer wishlist.

January recruit Gary Madine is yet to score for the Bluebirds while the Yorkshireman is looking for additional firepower to go along with Kenneth Zohore and the currently injured Danny Ward.

In addition to a striker, Warnock is expected to bring a new goalkeeper to South Wales while he is also eager to address his options at right-back, on the wings and in central midfield.

Warnock will get the best out of him

There could be nothing in it, as is often the case with bookies’ odds on transfers.

But I think he’d be a good signing. Not done great at Watford but was brilliant for Burnley. Warnock could get him back to his best.

Someone mentioned it on another topic, and I agree, that James McClean from West Brom would be a good signing if we can get him.

I would be happy win this Signing at possibly 8/10 million, Cornelius cost 8 Mil and Gray is surely better than Cornelius was at the time, Gray is premiership ready and will score goals if fit.
Another 8/10 Mil striker and our forward options will be looking decent.
