I think that almost everybody who saw us play in that kit has a great affection for it still and it would be absolutely brilliant to have a version of it as our kit in the Premier League.

Unfortunately the marketing men will probably think that it would only be bought by balding, slightly overweight ageing blokes like us and not be popular enough with the youngsters of today who the marketing would be chiefly aimed at.

Brilliant kit though - absolutely loved it!

great kit but it's an age thing my 13 year old wouldn't buy it and ultimately kids are probably the bigger market for replica kits.

A classic kit, but back in 1975 I can remember a few fans complaining about the yellow! Not that many, but a few.

That would be incredible (for us veterans and traditionalists) :bluescarf:

"The ball is played over the top to Peter Sayer, who takes it down well and heads towards the opposition goal. The keeper comes out to narrow the angle but Sayer looks up, picks his spot and blasts the ball into the net from 15 yards!"

FA CUP 3rd Round: Cardiff City 1 Tottenham Hotspur 0
Saturday 8th January 1977 @ Ninian Park, Cardiff (KO 3pm)
Goal: Peter Sayer (6 min)

I was 14 at the time and wore that shirt with pride until I wore it out! :ayatollah:

What a classic kit and still looks fresh. What a season though and one that set the scene for future years of terrace culture that the various books seem to under play. Tony Evans walks on water indeed.

The quote about Sayer's goal in the cup led by straight into memories of the exit onto Sloper Road that day :o

There were some 'hairy' days just being at Ninian Park back then! :o :ayatollah:

Always loved this kit but think it's time to look forward now, something new and fresh that appeals to all generations.

Loved the kit but it's of an era and now looks dated.

They could easily produce a modern version of this brilliant kit.
Crystal Palace did recently with their old diagonal stripe kit.
Looked very good.

"There were some 'hairy' days just being at Ninian Park back then"

In no order of hairiness as a top three at home that season......................Millwall, Spurs, Everton but the Yugoslavia game was so bad I wonder if my memory is playing tricks with me. If that was today with cameras, CCTV etc the ground would be shut for years. Some very interesting away trips that year as the away following as a % of the home support was really high. Shrewsbury was one to recall.

I loved that kit..........my fav all time player (Joe Dwyer) and then Alston, Buchannan, Mike England walking through a season playing by experience, Doug Livermore who could have played two divisions higher, too many others.

Reminds me of a certain pub. Bar queue crowded so went in the lounge to get served. Tony Evans in there with a girl friend. Me - "come in the bar and see my mates, we're all City and Grange End." Him - "ok but :( just to say hello, it's our first date". I take them in the bar and there's 50 drunk 17 year olds dressed identically in Doc Martens, Brutus jeans and brown bomber jackets who launch into the whole range of chants, including the war songs. I am not sure how impressed his date was

Never liked that kit for some reason even though it was popular with most fans. I preferred us in white shorts & socks.

I gave a letter to Ken Choo before Sunday’s game asking the club to bring a version of this kit back.We need a clear identity like Sampdoria and I’ve alwYs said we would have a clear identity with tweaks to this kit each yr.Crystal Palace ,Luton and WBA are 3 clubs I can recall who had that clear distinction.Commercially we would sell more kits and if we can have our badge back that would further enhance the engagement of our fans.

Kit gets chosen 12 months before. Was told in the club shop by the manager. Maybe season after.

If we could have that kit and our pre rebrand badge back everything would be just about perfect at our club. Great stuff.
I hope he reads your letter.

My favourite too Chris and as it happens my lad wore that top to college yesterday, he thinks it's a classic and it is.

Plenty of 'hairy" days for sure. Often I'd remember that there was also a football match being played in the background, as most of the action was taking place on the terraces.

It would be great to see the design elements being used in our kit at some stage as I think whatever age you are, it is perhaps our most iconic kit which many folks connect with.

It would be a simple kit to produce.
I hope the club will take note.
it would be very popular.
Whether Adidas would say yes is another matter!
