Skulduggery by Swansea in tonight’s relegation battle.

Tue May 08, 2018 11:17 am

Sounds like they will go to any lengths to get an advantage for tonight’s crucial relegation game? Isn’t one of their owners a stakeholder in Swansea hotels?

Southampton now staying in the Vale of Glamorgan forcing them to go through rush hour traffic?

Swansea City v Southampton news: Saints’ hotel reservation cancelled ahead of relegation clash

Talk Sport

Tuesday 8th May 2018

Southampton have been left enraged by the last-minute cancellation of the hotel rooms they had booked ahead of their relegation six-pointer against Swansea.

The Saints visit the south coast of Wales this evening hoping to claim a valuable victory that would move them three points clear of Carlos Carvalhal’s side heading into the final day of the season; Mark Hughes’ men have a vastly superior goal difference so victory will almost guarantee top flight survival for another year.

Southampton know a victory will almost guarantee survival

Southampton’s preparations including booking 40 rooms at the Swansea Marriott, but they have been forced to relocated to the Glamorgan Hotel 40 miles away due to the Marriott cancelling their booking.

The Sun say Saints were told the rooms were cancelled due to a virus that has hit the hotel, though the Marriott was still taking bookings on Monday; it is believed Swansea had nothing to do with the cancellation.

A victory for either side would all-but relegate the other, whilst also sending West Brom down to the Championship. The visitors enter the game in better form, with one win and two draws in their last three matches, while Swansea have lost each of their previous three fixtures.

Swansea have lost each of their last three games, including Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth

they've done them a favour - the Vale is far nicer than any shitehole in Jackland.

being serious its an easy run from J34 down west, but it does fall into the Derby snowgate category

I thought this as well until I went down there recently the traffic from Margam to Swansea centre doesn’t move. They have definitely done this on purpose hope it back fires big time :bluebird: :bluebird:

I was thinking the same, Paul

Not surprised by any of this. There's an old saying "NEVER trust a Jack" that always rings true and tonight I think we will see some shennanigans at The New Vetch. When it comes to underhand and deceitful, no one does it better!

I'll not predict the result but whilst there's a little part of me that would like to see a return of the Welsh 'derby' (any trip to their capital city is a major cultural experience for them) there's a lot more of me that wants to spend the summer smiling at our achievements and laughing at theirs for this past season! :laughing6:

The old nerves will be showing down there tonight and it's looking like winner takes all! :ayatollah:

Note: highly appropriately 'Vetch' is another word for cabbage patch and there will be plenty of those attending tonight's game! ;)

Will they not get a police escort (I think that's what their traffic department use down there) under the circumstances? :?

Surely don't want to tempt a repeat of the Liverpool v Man City fiasco? :(

The timing is just plain odd Chris. And I have the same sentiments about the Derby too but if I'm honest, for the stick they've rightly given us I'd like to see them down now we've come full circle and are in better shape than they'll ever be. Be interesting to see what their 27 stakeholder hedge funders will do, as they want to see a return on investment and I can't see them being patient whilst struggling on the pitch and off it.

Paul, they HAD a system for a long while and (all credit to Huw and his gang of chancers) it worked but then (unlike the club's rugby loving sycophantic fans) they realised it couldn't be sustained and sold out to the consortium. From that moment on, there has been little proper investment and almost an expectance from the supporters that the Golden Goose was firing blanks! :laughing6:

I'm also loving the silence (from the Jacks) on here of late and hoping it will continue! :ayatollah:

They have been unusually quiet on here for quite a while for some apparent reason. Perhaps they've all gone swimming in their Tidal Lagoon? Oh wait a sec....... :ayatollah:

Better that they stay away from the city. Who knows, someone might have set off the fire alarms in their hotel and upset their sleep pattern. I'm sure that has happened before. ;)

As far as tonight goes, have no goal scorers we're going down. No south Wales derby next season. Enjoy the PL.

You win or draw and its odds on Southampton will go down if you lose then you will be relegated unless you win your last game and Southampton lose 7-0 at Man City assuming you win the last game 1-0

A mate of mine works for Swans and said there was no police escort for them and then when Southampton arrived at the liberty they made them wait 25 so Swansea could offload their stuff
Hope they get hammered
