Could we play the Jacks without a bubble ????

Mon May 07, 2018 9:00 pm

What do you think, has enough time passed for us to play without a bubble arrangement after all we have managed to play Bristol City without one for years now ???

No chance it could set football back years if it wasn't? And it's not the football fans that's the problem it's the morons attached to both clubs :old:

In a word, yes. This is a game between two medium sized clubs from cities forty miles apart. Just needs the lazy South Wales OB to get their act together.

:laughing6: I know I was really thinking that, but it's funny when you stick a line of policemen out people act up, I wonder if there would be so many hanging around for us to arrive if the police weren't there and we weren't escorted in ??

But you probably are right there would be more than enough trouble at both grounds !!!

Will we ever be able to play them without a bubble ???

You wouldn't believe the police presence on m4 between Swansea & Cardiff! It's like the film convoy several police on every bridge and on side of Rd , whilst can argue most other derbies don't have bubbles certain ones do us Wrexham v Chester and one in Lancashire (can't remember teams) just can't see it with the police state we have for city games now? Did you know they take pics of fans on sloper rd who sing and then put on facial recognision data Base they are just paranoid about us :o

dont see it being lifted anytime soon..apart from anything else our reputation for trouble seems to still go before us...just last week the police cleared a route out of Hull which included police cars blocking off every slip road while also blocking other road users joining the carriageway this extended from the ground the whole length of the A63 and 2 motorways up to junction4 of the M18..OVER 40MILES..

I think that's more road management though. When you got there you got off the bus and were free to go wherever you wanted. Can a Swansea Cardiff game be bubble free ? I don't know but I don't see why they couldn't give it a try. The football fan has moved on. Playing up at the football with violent intent probably gets you a custodial sentence and 99.9% of people are far too sensible for that. So if they can be parked at the ground and escorted from the station then why not ?

Will never ever happen, to much risk involved for SWP and they would lose a lot of overtime aswell :thumbright:

It could be done but the police operation would need to be massive. I would love to travel by train and be among thousands pouring off at Swansea High Street Station and if there was a police escort to the ground I think it would probably be trouble free. No escort and it would go off. Like a previous poster said the Severnside Derby is no longer a bubble so give it a try.

That's the problem police presence would be extreme and how many would it need? Like said before its not footy fans it's the morons from both city's that would cause trouble and tbh that would set back travel to all other games plus the reputation of both city's in general . :old:

South Wales Police 100% won't let that happen.

Your right annis plus only 3k fans at each game easy to manage.? I personally wouldn't want it without bubble as to much to lose overall

I have done it twice, once in 96 (the first ever bubble) and the Premiership Season.

96 being the first time was a bit of a novelty but the PL season it was a nightmare to be honest and I wouldn't do it again.

Having to get the coach down to the CCS, then hang around there for a good hour if not longer, then the slow drive down, then keeping is on that business park or whatever it is for another good hour if not more, it's just all to much hassle and time.

They probably wont ever lift the bubble but they could definitely relax it to maybe just an RV point, at least that way the coaches can just make their own way then get bussed in for the final bit.

No and I don't think it should either. To many idiots at both clubs who would try and spoilt it for the others.

I am no angel so the last thing I want to do is sound like a hypocrite but times have moved on now.

You are talking about possibly 20,000+ at the Liberty and 33,000 at the CCS. Out of that 53,000 that would probably attend both games you are talking a tiny percentage that would cause trouble and to be honest the Police should be able to handle it.

Surely by making it a bubble, the idiots on both sides have already spoilt it for everyone else?

There is absolutely no need for a bubble these days, we are no worse than any other Clubs/Derby up and down the country.

If you look at it from a cost angle it costs the Police far more on the bubble than it would to Police the City etc, I am sure but not certain that the Clubs only pay for the presence in and around the stadium area and the cost of the 'Bubble' itself is paid by the tax payer, when I went in the Premiership year I was talking to one bored looking copper and he told me that they were seriously considering whether the bubble would continue due to how much it costs.
