Wales could return to Principality Stadium under Ryan Giggs
02/05/18
Wales could soon return to Cardiff's Principality Stadium under new manager Ryan Giggs after a seven-year absence, Sky Sports News understands.
The Football Association of Wales {FAW] is in talks with stadium owners, the Welsh Rugby Union about hosting their October home friendly against Spain at the 74,500-seater stadium.
Giggs and number of Welsh FA members want to return to the Principality stadium.
Sky Sports News understands no agreement has yet been reached, but talks are continuing and the FAW remain keen to end their exile.

If they do cheap tickets and sell it out it makes sense for a friendly like Spain

After all these years how is it possible that you can’t spell his name?

Very poor decision in my mind,we’ll have to wait and see.

Hate the stupid name of the stadium and even with 30000 it'll seem empty and lacking atmosphere. I really hope Giggs has more sense. We might have a good crowd for the Spain match, but a qualifier against a smaller nation won't bring the crowds in.

We never left, just been waiting for a suitable game. And we won't be leaving CCS either. It's a friendly against one of the best teams in the world, it makes perfect sense as long as its not overpriced. One of these every year or two would be good in my opinion

Terrible decision if this goes ahead.

Not sure but I remember under Hughes we had cheap tickets ie £5/£10 and the stadium was often full, if they do this again and sell it out I don't see how it can be a bad decision for a one off friendly game

Out of curiosity, are you taking credit for being in the know, or for a lucky guess?

Stick your egg stadium with no atmosphere up your arse

Me too, what a crap name. The Millennium Stadium was brilliant and gave Cardiff an international reach. Why change it but for money of course.

Unless we get 55k+ no point, stick to Cardiff Stadium or Swansea (Always think national team should vary location)

No problem with friendlies being played there, all qualifiers should be played at the CCS though.

Big mistake certain welsh fa members missing their vip perks at the stadium ?

Really bad decision moving this game to the Rugger stadium. Kids tickets were only £5 at the CCS for Welsh games, so what are they going to charge at the Egg stadium, a quid

they may get 40,000 with 33,500 empty seats. Giggs and the fat old men of the FAW will rue the day if they even think about permanently moving from the CCS, it's where the team and fans are most happy and where the last few years of success has come from. Giggs himself is no draw, if anything it's the opposite, the carpet chested Mancunian is not popular in Wales on the whole

Wow those are fantastic prices

At least we can encourage more fans instead of the clique

Rugby stadium, pitch not good and atmosphere won't be as good as CCS.
Giggs gets his way and moving games back and forth both won't help our players it's all about money for him.
I won't be going to watch Wales play there not a touch on CCS and never will be. We had some great matches there but that's in the past, where Giggs belongs.
This could be the downward spiral for a few years under him. The smiling assassin he is!

Stopped going when it moved to the egg stadium, which it is.
Giggs first mistake, unfortunately probably will be the first one of many.

FAW are probably praying that Spain have a great World Cup, otherwise there could be a lot of empty seats thst night.
They've got to price tickets at most £15.
Wed May 02, 2018 3:28 pm
I would rather a packed CCS than an half empty Principality stadium.
Wed May 02, 2018 3:48 pm
Never really interested in friendly's anyway a game with no meaning and nothing on it,add to that its the home of the egg chuckers makes it a definite non event even if it is spain the only one thing in its favour is that you can fall out of the pub straight in the stadium

I would be disappointed and surprised if there was any truth to this other than for one off friendlies.
A lot of hard work has gone into what has been created at the CCS and to move away from it now for the sake of what an extra few ticket sales every now and again would be a poor move for me.
I remember games at the Millenium in front of crowds as low as 12-13,000, having said that we played Scotland at the CCS in front of not much more and half of those were Scots before the success came in.
I'm no expert but this does worry me, if the team struggle Welsh Football could go back to the bad days and all the hard work undone in one swoop.

If I remember rightly we were the best supported nation in Europe for a while.
