Aston Villa, still a massive club, one of the biggest in the UK

They had over 41,000 v Derby on this weekend, a nothing game really as Villa are only in the play-offs.

You can't fault their support. Like Leeds, love them or loathe them, they're both massive clubs.

It wasn’t a nothing game really because if we’d lost to Hull, there was still an outside chance of automatic promotion for them.

Annis - Interesting one this as was sat next to a Villa season ticket holder last time I flew back to UK for a match. He was saying that they were going through what we were going through with attendances and had lost about 10k and no rebrand. It was just that fans were picking and choosing games and when a big game came along that’s when the all turn up.

The figures support his case as I they have had 738,000 with 23 league games - slightly distorted by the last game but works out an average of 32000 for the season.

It just proves when people want to go they can find a way to go and it shows it is not just us as a club with a problem. :ayatollah:

Not bad though Dobbins, Over 32,000 average home crowd 2nd season in the Champ.

Many said said last season, they won't take as many away their 2nd season in Champ, well they were regularly taking 4,000 plus to away games this season.

My point is Villa are a massive club and their support deserves to be a Prem Club, I hope they come up via the play-offs if we are already promoted :thumbright: :thumbright:

Agree a club with history and a classic old school ground - the roar of villa villa from the holt end reminds me of going to games there with my villa mates - quite something.

Great ground and been to a few cup semi finals when they were held at the ground.

I am not sure if that 738000 includes away fans as most clubs take a decent following so if it is, the home fans could be averaging less than 30k a big drop.

Looking forward to Sunday - in and out for the match as we getting to the business end of our season - good to see belearus on the pick up

I agree, great support, but having huge crowds doesn't mean anything anymore. Personally I think it's a good thing that Clubs like Bournemouth can survive in the top division with small crowds. It's all about the Sky dosh now, having big turnouts means next to nothing these days.

Agree with the previous post .regarding villa 105 seasons in the top division silverware enormous catchment area. Our attendance Sunday will only be 8000 short of that fantastic support by us.
