Who would win a 90 minutes between the promotion team of 12/13 and the team we have today? Not hard to choose which team would play in blue and which we be in red!

When you list them like that I think its obvious that the new batch would win.

There is just too much pace with end product. Look stronger in defence and midfield also.

I meant the Gunner of 12/13 would beat the one of now in a midfield battle, although in those teams the 12/13 Gunner would be shattered doing the running Whitts wouldn’t do!

Would agree with the majority of your choices, but I would choose Etheridge over Marshall every day of the week. I get that his kicking was awful when he first played for us, but he's worked extremely hard to sort that problem out and his all round goalkeeping skills are far better than Marshall's IMO.

Etheridge is one of the main reasons why we've been challenging for promotion for so long this season. He's kept 18 clean sheets, is like an extra defender, in that he is quick to read danger, quick to race off his line and sweep up behind the back four. He isn't afraid to come for and gather crosses either, which was Marshall's biggest weakness as a goalkeeper and would more often than not, be rooted to his goal line.

I used to call Marshall Cinderella, cos he never got to the ball!

I was also one of the few who thought Tom Heaton was the better all round goalkeeper and couldn't understand why Marshall was getting picked ahead of him!

Listen, I don't have anything against David Marshall, he was a good servant to the Club and a capable goalkeeper at Championship level.

People raved about his Premiership Season (mainly Cardiff fans) but ultimately he was the Goalkeeper of a Team that finished bottom of the League and conceded the second most goals in the Division that season.

He made some good saves and quite rightly got the plaudits for them, but again, when your playing for a Club that is getting battered most weeks its standard that a goalkeeper is going to be making saves. It was the same with Jordan Pickford last season at Sunderland.

The difference being between Marshall and Pickford that despite a lot of rumour and hot air Everton actually went out and spent £25 million on Pickford (I think that's crazy btw), where as Marshall, well he stayed with us.

Eventually Hull came in for him and bombed him out as quickly as he arrived and now he plays second or third fiddle at Championship level.

He need's to move now to resurrect his career, there is a reason no Premiership Clubs (before Hull) came in for him and a reason he is playing number 2 to McCgreggor now, he simply isn't as good as a lot of people thought he was.

Heidar Helguson was very underated, he was instrumental in us going up IMO !!!

Going to be an unpopular opinion I'm sure. Agree with you though, Etheridge is so quick off his line. Marshall just had a knack of coming up with absolutely unbelievable saves. Etheridge's ability to come out for the ball means he's rarely put into those situations.
