About Reading

Reading Football Club is a professional association football club based in Reading, Berkshire, England. The team play in the Championship, the second tier of English football.

Reading are nicknamed The Royals, due to Reading's location in the Royal County of Berkshire, though they were previously known as The Biscuitmen, due to the town's association with Huntley and Palmers. Established in 1871, the club is one of the oldest teams in England, but did not join The Football League until 1920, and had never played in the top tier of English football league system before the 2006–07 season. The club competed in the 2012–13 Premier League season, having gained promotion at the end of the 2011–12 season after winning the Championship, but were relegated after just one season back in the top flight.

The club played at Elm Park for 102 years between 1896 and 1998. In 1998 the club moved to the new Madejski Stadium, which is named after the club's co-chairman Sir John Madejski.

The club holds the record for the number of successive league wins at the start of a season, with a total of 13 wins at the start of the 1985–86 Third Division campaign and also the record for the number of points gained in the professional league season with 106 points in the 2005–06 Football League Championship campaign. Reading then finished eighth in the 2006–07 Premier League, their first ever season as a top flight club.

Before some generic pesimist corrects me and tells me the obvious bland comment of "There are no easy games, trust me from experience" Well you know what, I'm well aware any game in football could go anyway, weather it's Barcelona v Shrewsbury town or Cardiff v Reading. If anyone ever says they're gonna win, let them be, there's no need to lower expectations. If we lose I will be gutted wether I expected to win or not. My Positivity (Or you may say my arrogance/foolishness) will not change the result next week...
Having said that...

We are going to win next week, there's literally no way we can't. I'm so confident though. I'm going for a 4-0 city win.

Madine to come on at 2-0 and score a brace.

COME ON CITY!!!!

There are no easy games but....we will never have a better scenario than this to clinch autos, home to a team who were beaten 4-0 at home by a poor Ipswich side. We have to win and I think we will be all but home and dry by half time

I think Reading will just park the bus and try and get the single point they need.

If we dont score early we could be in trouble and it will get nervy.
If we do score early we will win by 3/4

I see us drawing this but also fulham failing to win ay Brum and us going up. We never do it the easy way

Nervy. The lads will know what we need. NW will have them prepared. The rest is up to us singing our hearts out and fate. What an opportunity.....Fulham must be thinking what the F do they need to do??! We’re such an irritation. Love it. Thought it’d come down to thd funak game. Lets enjoy it.

I know EXACTLY what sort of game I want. 4-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Don't need the palpitations.

I know what you mean but it would be exciting to have a big last minute moment like that or the Aguero Man city goal.

Maybe it will be Gary Madines big moment

Actually scrap that lets just win 4-0

Reading 2-0 up half time Fulham winning at Birmingham 4-0 and we snatch it 3-2 with the third goal coming in the 96th minute from bamda. I break both my legs falling from the upper tier.

Are you mad?!! The last few minutes at Norwich and at home to Forest have been hell. And even when Morrison got the second yesterday I was still a bag of nerves. I don't think I can take any more. No- I want a comfortable win. (Though will probably still be nervous if we are 4 up with 5 minutes to go.)

I hope he starts with zohore or pilks, wins the first header and holds play well.

Madine is alright, he’s short on confidence. Would love to see him bag a goal for us v Reading. He’s worked hard when he’s played which has been stop/start. I’d have liked to see someone like Tomlin played just off him.
Bit like the Grujic debate - in my view both decent players. They are good enough for Warnock, so that's good enough for me.
I’d like a Bryson, Ralls and Pato midfield. That looked balanced second half at Hull. For me Grujic has looked more comfortable at home and away bookings havent helped his cause. If he does play and expresses himself, he’ll dominate the mf. With Gunnar injured, we might see the lad. He’s played well with Rallsy too. Oooh options. Im so excited about reading!

Just hoping the pressure of the occasion doesn’t get to the lads. All this fuss over “biggest home crowd for over 42 years” I think it put a lot of pressure on the team vs Wolves. Hope that if god forbid we goal a goal behind, then they all keep their heads and fulfill their potential. I still see ya winning 2-1 or 3-1...
