Neil Warnock's response to Gary Rowett's claims Cardiff City boss has created "needle" with Derby County -

Monday 23rd April 2018

Neil Warnock heaped praise on Gary Rowett following the Derby County manager's comments that the Cardiff City boss has created "a bit of needle" between the Rams and the Bluebirds.

The Yorkshireman takes his side to Pride Park on Tuesday night for the rearranged fixture which was originally due to take place in March before controversially being called off due to snow .

Speaking at the time, Warnock branded the decision to call off the game a "disgrace" , and ahead of the clash between the sides this week, Rowett said: "Neil has created a bit of needle, I don’t think anyone else has stoked things up.

NEIL WARNOCK:

“I’ve got no problem with that.

“I still like the guy. It’s all a bit panto at times, though!

“My only worry is that I’ve come in this morning and the weather is a bit cold!”

But Warnock swatted away any concerns that there were problems between the two sides, adding that he's a big fan of the Rams' boss.

"I’m definitely not going to give you any extra lines that you want," said the Cardiff boss.

"I’ve listened to some presenters asking questions to managers at difficult times and I cringe. We’re just looking forward to the three games, not just Derby.

"They’re a proper football club, and one I wish I could’ve managed in the past. They’ve always got a really loud backing and there’s a lot pressure on them to get into the playoffs. It’s set up to be a cracking game.

"I think he’s a very good manager. I like Gary. I speak to him, well I have done in the past. He’s very much like myself, I hope he doesn’t mind me saying that.

"He’s very sincere and puts everything into his job. He likes players to give him everything and I think it was the right appointment and I think it will be long term."

Neil Warnock plays down ‘bad blood’ between Derby County and Cardiff City

Derby Telegraph

Monday 23rd April 2018

Neil Warnock has played down talks of ‘bad blood’ between Derby County and Cardiff City ahead of tomorrow night’s meeting.

The Bluebirds head to Pride Park Stadium for a second time this season, after the original Championship fixture in March was postponed due to heavy snow.

Warnock and the club were unhappy with the decision to call the game off – but the EFL said it remained satisfied.

A foul-mouthed video later emerged on social media of Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison taking aim at three Derby players.

A video emerged of Cardiff City defender Sean Morrison
He spoke about Richard Keogh, Jason Shackell and Alex Pearce, although Warnock passed it off as “banter” at the time.

When asked at his pre-match press conference about the video and if there was any ‘bad blood’ between the sides, Warnock said: “When you’re fighting for what we are, there’s going to be an edge.

“The players get on well and I know they had the so-called Twitter thing, I call it a different word!

“It was light-hearted and they’ll be shaking hands at the end of the game.

“Life’s too short (for bad blood).”

Derby go into the game a point and a place outside the Championship play-offs, knowing if they beat the Bluebirds they will be back in the top six with two games to play.

Cardiff, meanwhile, can move four points ahead of Fulham – with six points left to play for – with a victory.

“My tips for promotion were Middlesbrough and Derby at the start of the season,” said Warnock. “So credit to Wolves.

“I still think their (Derby’s) squad is as good as any in the league.

“They’ll be desperate to get in the play-offs and we could be playing them in a few weeks.”

I wonder what Panto?

My guess is that it was Snow White, Featuring Gary Rowett as Snow white, & his seven injured & suspended dwarfs.
