Ryan Sessegnon warns Cardiff City that Fulham are ready to pounce in promotion race

Ryan Sessegnon has warned Cardiff City that Fulham are ready to pounce in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Cardiff's dramatic defeat by Wolves on Friday night allowed Fulham to cut the gap to the second-placed Bluebirds to just two points.

Fulham have put together an incredible 19-match unbeaten run to eat away at Cardiff's cushion, and can leapfrog them into the Championship top two if they beat Reading on Tuesday night and Neil Warnock's side stumble at Aston Villa.

Teenage full-back Sessegnon admits the Fulham squad were watching events in Cardiff closely on Friday night before securing a 1-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday less than 24 hours later.

"We were aware that we needed to take advantage of that," Sessegnon told the club's official website.

"We all watched the game and knew that if Cardiff slipped up then it was our chance to pounce by getting three points and closing the gap on them. It is especially pleasing because the gap used to be so big.

"Now we have the belief, we've closed the gap and we keep winning games, so we're just raring to go in the next match."

Fulham starting to get chatty and our experiences at City say it's best to do your talking on the pitch! ;)

They, like City, have been on an incredible unbeaten run but have had some lucky results in there...

Over confidence breeds complacency and whilst City are looking to rebound from the Wolves defeat, Fulham will quietly be wondering when their run will come to an end?

It may not be tonight, but their performances of late suggest it is going to happen!

Keep the faith, Cardiff City fans!; a result against the Villa tonight and it's still in OUR hands! :bluescarf:

Yes they've had bit luck recently no more so than there 1st goal at Leeds ff's hit on backside looking other way! And performances far from great and one would think have to end run soon which is their problem there's no time to make up ground providing city do OK. :old:

Fulham may well be on the point of taking 2nd place off us but won't that bring a different sort of pressure on them :?

If they do take 2nd place from us then they immediately become they "Chased" rather then the "Chaser" and according to their managers own words they will have "Everything to lose" whilst Cardiff will have nothing to lose.

In my opinion we still have 4 very winnable games and if we do that then Fulham will have to win every one of their games.

Loving this season I am.
