A forum for all things Cardiff City

VINCE ALM:
Just like to clear up why I'm disappointed with some of the criticism levelled at Cardiff City last night after the 1.0 loss to Wolves from some of our supporters many of whom are regulars.
I accept people will have a different opinion on how the game went, how a player played to me, and they are entitled to that opinion. However Football is subjective and emotive everyone sees the game differently, but the manner of the criticism was well overboard in my opinion including the slating individual of players well over the top.
I have been to every game this season and Warnock has changed the team to suit the team he has played. For those who are not privileged to go to every game like me Warnock bases his strategy on defence and catching teams on the break. He doesn't do the passing thing through midfield his style is more direct always has been. We have not dominated any game this season we generally have a third of the possession of any match, but most importantly we have more attempts on goal, last night was no different.
Warnock tactics generally worked last night nullifying most of wolves attacks outside the area (as in every game), they were reduced to a couple of long range efforts which etheridge dealt with, and that quality free kick. We didn't take our chances last night if we had we would have won. Peltier was brought in and Patterson moved to the flanks to stop their wide men who have terrorised defences, that worked.
Gunners man marked Neves and did a job on him kept his opportunities to a minimum. If Bennett had taken his chance, Zahore had taken one of the three opportunities he had, if Bryson had at least hit the target with his three efforts or gunners had taken his chance, and we had taken one of our penalties, we be talking differently today.
The game was finely balanced last night, but luck deserted us last night, We have Neil Warnock we will be fine!
Keep the faith

Brilliant post! 6 cup finals to go and we are in the driving seat.
PS. People need to get off Madines back. He's miles better than what he's shown so far and he needs our support not criticism. It's not easy at a new club plus he got injured straight away.

Spot on both posts.

I repeat what I said on here earlier and I have a lot of time for Vince I normally agree with him 100% and understand his feeling
regarding some supporters being negative.
But everyone has views and that should be respected even if they are daft views and every supporter can but I what I hate is if someone says something on here that someone disagrees with you dont get a debate you get silly things like " I have supported City since 1898 so I know what I am talking about" insults etc
I know loads of supporters who do not come on here or other sites as they see insults so I disagree with Vince if a supporter feels that the season is over and wants Warnock sacked fine that is their view I just hope they are wrong

As fans we are allowed to voice our opinion, are we not. I do’nt care if I get shot down, but the tactics and missed penalties last night were a farce. We gave Wolves far too much respect, playing 6 across the back, at times. Too start Wildschutt in such a critical game was mind boggling and where was our talisman Marko. I’m writing this watching Norwich taking the game to Villa, 3-1 as type., hoping that Warnock will do the same on Tuesday, instead of being so negative, like last night.

Top post.
We’re all in this together, let’s move on. I also don’t understand the critism aimed at Madine, ok, he hasn’t had the best of starts to his Cardiff career, but he had that injury to deal with as well. We should get behind the team, he missed the pen, but he won’t be the first or the last player to miss.

But why was Madine allowed to take the penalty? He hasn’t been in the best of form, down to injury, which is fair enough, but I can’t get the logic of letting him take it.

This was a gamble i agree but lets flip it around, what if Madine would have scored.
That could well have been the kick start needed to see him finish the season on the same form he started at Bolton.
Madine has a higher goal tally than any Cardiff player this season, that's not by luck just like our current table position is fully deserved.
Lets not self destruct just yet and get behind the team

It’s a monkey off our back! We were going to lose a game at some point, it’s how we bounce back now. My only criticism etheridge was just a step or two too far to his left. It’s fine margins but he has kept us in many games. It goes down as 1 of those nights and we cement villas play off spot Tuesday night.

You have absolutely no understanding of the way we play and the tactics that have got us to where we are. Vince even explained it very simply for your benefit but still you have no idea. To describe Warnock tactics as a farce is so naive. Yes, by his own admission he has got it wrong once or twice but has usually rectified it during games. I have faith that he will adopt appropriate tactics against Villa.
And since when has Marko been our talisman?
There is a time to be critical and a time to stick together and show support. I doubt that you are one whom Warnock would want with him in the trenches.

I really don’t think we are in the driving seat. We will see by midweek.

Agree mate to defensive, and to start Wildshit baffled me before the game, he played awful too, why not start mendez?

I think people need to understand the premise of a message board. It is not a prerequisite to post fluffy posts aimed at seeing the glass more than half full 100% of the time. Football is a game which we all contribute hard earned wages for the pleasure to watch. Everyone of us has pledged our support to Cardiff City. Whether or not we post our frustrations at the team, the manager or individual players - that will never change the support and backing we show every fixture. I can hand on heart say that I was frustrated by the selected 11, by the choice of penalty takers - not once but twice, but last I checked my name was not Neil Warnock, my name will never be printed on the back of a shirt and hang in the dressing room of the CCS. I would tell Madine personally, give me the ball in front of the biggest home crowd for 40ish years and I would have hit the corner flag! Chin up, don’t over think it - the goals will come! Remember Cardiff fans appreciate your effort and all round workrate for the team - I hope when you net your first for us, that you feel the roof lift off like Eddie Johnson did! #cityasone!!

i love this team, the characters in it (Pato, bamba, Gunnarsson), and most of all NW. we’re blessed to have such a wonderful team and manager, given our recent past. Fancy being a Sunderland supporter right now? So I put it all into perspective. It’s no good slagging off individuals, it’s a team game. Scapegoating Is pointless. What the team needs is for us to shout for big Gary. He’ll come goid. I like Madine and I wish him well. This is football, nothing is certain. Forget Friday, move on. Trust NW.
Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:15 pm
I don't always agree with NW team selections however he is a Top Manager and you have to trust his judgement, i thought the supporters gave the team good support on Friday before/during and at the end of the game. Everyone put in a shift and on another day we could have won but it is fine margins in football. Too close to call now but i will and i am sure everyone else will give their support to end no mater what the outcome is, hopefully promotion but in IMO it may be through the Play OFFs
