" Distraught but not disgraced "

Only we could miss 2 penalties in injury time but let's be honest, Wolves were the better team, they deserved the win and they deserve to win the league.

I haven't seen anything like tonight, but believe it or not, I wasn't surprised we missed both penalties. A few years ago, I would have been devastated, I wouldn't have believed we had thrown away such an opportunity. Tonight, I'm still devastated, but it was more of a disappointment and acceptance that we had blown it again. I suppose I've got used to being continually let down over the years.

But that's why we support our local club and that's why when we do experience a high, it makes it all the more special. The difference this season is when we go down, we still give our all, we still leave everything on the pitch and we go down fighting. That's good enough for me and that's why however our season ends, I will be thankful to Neil Warnock and all the players for the journey they've taken us on.

Warnock and the players now need us more than ever, we need to do our bit to carry us over the line. We have done so well because we have a phenomenal manager who has assembled a team of leaders who have taken us to 2nd in the league through sheer effort, spirit and desire. We need to give every inch of the same effort, spirit and desire back for our remaining 6 games, starting at Villa Tuesday.

Whether we win, lose or draw our last 6 games and whether we get promoted or not, I will be forever grateful for the efforts of Neil Warnock and every Cardiff player this season. We don't have the best team, we don't have the best players and we definitely don't play the best football, but I couldn't be more proud of my football club.

Well said. But I've never felt so dejected after a game in all my life lol

I got out of bed at 5.30am as I woke up and couldn't get that crazy couple of minutes out of my mind. Couldn't get back to sleep so just got up to watch Breakfast TV, how f*cking sad am I? At 63 years of age I have seen some disappointments with City but last night capped it all :banghead:

Last night's match must have been great for the neutrals but for us diehard City fans it was like being hung drawn and quartered. However, in the cold light of day I think we could bounce back and see this through. Expect Fulham's last six to provide unexpected results here and there.

Spot on, the team and manager have done us proud this year. I’ve never felt so bad after losing as I did last night but the team gave everything they had. Sometimes it just isn’t meant to be and we went close so many times. If we hadn’t created any chances I’d be more worried. Let’s hope Neil can fire them up for a backlash against Villa. C’mon you Bluebirds :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

So Sheff UTD and Wolves the better team in the last two games, what does that say about us, what have changed? Hmm

Haven't drunk this year (trying to reduce my carb intake) but stayed up to 2am knocking back Bud light (gawd that's awful) in disbelief.

Looking back to it i think i was clinically in mourning for weeks after the Wales Romania game 25 years ago. This is nothing like that because we have exceeded all my expectation and i still believe we'll do it....... :ayatollah:

But if we don't we do it next year...... :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Yep, same thoughts as most. Shell shocked at the end and full of unbelieveables & unforgivables. But this morning full of realisation that we are still in the driving seat. Good that the Villa game is just 4 days away. Just enough time to recover and be hungry to want to put last night right. Yes it's no walk in the park but when is it ever for a City team or fan. QPR did them last week. I will not give up the belief for 2nd spot until it's mathematically certain that either Fulham or Villa are there. I'm sure NW or the team won't either. Roll on Villa and we go again. :ayatollah:

Great posts...what I did like about last night was that even after a disastrous couple of minutes the team got a standing ovation from virtually everyone in the stadium.

We may not have the best or most expensive players in the Division but we do have is a tremendously hard working team with a never say die attitude

Well done to the supporters who made a great atmosphere last night and kept on encouraging right to the end

Our luck well and truly ran out yesterday, but I would still prefer to be in our position than the 2 teams below us

Well I have woke up this morning and I am a proud bluebird, if you would have said to me at the beginning of the season we would be 5 points clear in second with 6 games to go I would of laughed my head off, let’s keep being positive and stick together and we will go up. :ayatollah:

Agree about Grujic & Ralls. Pilkington should have taken the penalty, in fact, I would have started Pilks in the first place.

Hope Patterson is OK for Tuesday night, & as for Gunnarsson, it looks like a case of him just getting match fit for the World Cup.

The last time I felt like this after a game was when we lost to Stoke in the first div play off semi final at Ninian Park, back in 2002!

I was so down last night.. shell shocked , but this morning perspective had kicked in.. we are still there.. why lose belief now.. we know what we have to do so let's give it all we have, team and supporters.. and see what happens..
At the end of the day this season has been the best for many a year, a manager that has brought the club back its pride and a team that had given everything.
My only concern is the midfield, grujic and Bryson if talks not fit for me.. gunners was knackered last night, for me he should not have been on there, wldnof put gamba there and Bruno at cb but that's just hindsight..
Let's go to Villa and give it all we got .

Some great posts above, and I like most on here had the same images in my mind as I went to bed and then woke up.

But as mentioned it was great to see the fans & the team never give up. I made myself feel better by thinking it was only 1 point we dropped with the penalty misses. But never mind, onwards and upwards.......we go again. :bluebird:

Its been a great season, but fear for the next few games. Got a feeling it's the play-offs now. Don't know about the players, but I'm exhausted now, though still going to Villa.

100% agree. With either or both of them in our midfield we would have got a result yesterday.

Great OP! Last night our fans were amazing and the appreciation of the players efforts at the end was amazing to witness. :bluescarf: :bluebird:

With the ayatollah in full flow it was like the good old days and - aside from the result - I loved every minute of it. :ayatollah:

Same here a 59 Yr old man nearly in tears last night couldn't sleep last night if only this if only that but if you offered me play offs at the beginning of the season i take it with both hands it ain't over yet but we all know these 3 games could be the difference between promotion or play offs but whatever happens I'm back next year to support my team

Was Grujic injured or dropped last night?

Felt worse than losing to Hamburg SV , Liverpool cup final , all those Dave Jones games including bloody Blackpool. Truth is it’s still in our hands. Doesn’t matter what anyone else does it’s up to the team . Let’s beat Villa and it will all be forgotten. :old: :occasion5: :bluebird:

The worse I have felt since the Blackpool play off.
I was awake at 4 for 90 minutes (thank you fitbit) must have been replaying the match.
But it's definitely not over , a few more twist and turns to come .

Cant ever remember a game like it the two penalty takers didnt look confident did they.
If only whits was still with us .
Think we were all gutted and shocked could of won 2-1
First thing i thought when i woke up was bollocks how did we not score from two penalties only us a.

Wolves for me deserve to be promoted as champions and last night deserved the three points just.

All gone now move on im watching out for Fulhams score villa lost again so im confident we can bounce back and beat em.
.
Obviously we all want promotion but if it doesn't happen yes ill be gutted but this team has given everything and as a city fan i can't ask for more.
Even if Fulham win we still above em .
Gonna go to the wire city don't do easy never have but if we get up its extra special.

Good luck tuesday 2-0 city

Could not have put it any better that's as true an opinion you could have given, excellent!
We gave everything but they were a good footballing side but the players stuck to their jobs and a draw should have been the result, you just should not miss 2 penalties.

It was great to see such a good crowd the atmosphere was great the end dramatic.

It seems the Spectre of Fulham is hot on our heels prodding our arses with what seems an unstoppable run of results ,but the longer you go without losing the closer you are to unexpected defeat,, their arrogance can get us over the line.

Re: " Distraught but not disgraced "

It's a worry when you hear some players are low on on confidence at a crucial time but Warnock must juggle the team and instill confidence again, maybe play the pre Xmas team in the Villa game.
Personally I think bringing Gunner s back has disrupted the mid field to a certain extent ,we were winning before ,he should have been included in the squad and introduced slowly ,last 10 mins of games ,maybe.
But it is what it is ,we just need to support the boys ,hard tho ,so disappointing ,we re used to it we are Cardiff fans ,I have a sneaky feeling we will do it .
