Ray "Butch" Wilkins, one of my favourite players of the mid 70's, a truly great & honest player, a true gentleman, RIP.

I think all the alcohol and drink driving caught up with him sadly.

Not sure drink driving would usually increase risk of heart attack. I get worried about my own heart when athletes die so young.
Anyone know where the 'butch' name comes from.

Sad news, what a player and gentleman, one of my old man’s fav players.
We all take life for granted but it can be over in a second, thoughts go out to Ray’s loved ones and friends. RIP Wilko.

Sad news indeed, he was a fantastic player with Chelsea but became a bit negative with Man Utd. RIP Ray.

Taken From @DannyBaker on Twitter
*For every footballer who might act like an entitled, boorish clod you could always point to Ray Wilkins and say, "Well hold on. The game also produces characters like him too." A gentleman, a fellow of the driest wit.
A smiler.*
