Ray "Butch" Wilkins, one of my favourite players of the mid 70's, a truly great & honest player, a true gentleman, RIP.

I think all the alcohol and drink driving caught up with him sadly.

Not sure drink driving would usually increase risk of heart attack. I get worried about my own heart when athletes die so young.
Anyone know where the 'butch' name comes from.

Sad news, what a player and gentleman, one of my old man’s fav players.

That is true and he got the 'crab' nickname for always passing sideways but still formed a brilliant midfield combo with Bryan Robson.

Grew up watching him in the eighties, true legend, RIP Ray Wilkins
