Surely Manga has to either move to the middle or drop to the bench, he's a super central defender but he is no right back. Peltier is a specialised right back and offers us a more solid defensive option.

Throwing Gunnarsson into a the midfield after only recently coming back from injury and into a new midfield set-up / personnel I thought was a mistake. I think the three of Grujić, Paterson and Gunnarsson in midfield should be tested, not thrown together at such a tough away fixture. We just looked so clueless with players not really knowing what they were doing.

Im my humble opinion we would have been better off with peltier at right back, manga in central defence and Bamba pushed into a defensive midfield role. Or drop manga to the bench and put bryson in midfield, seemed his kind of game.

Anyway, in NW we trust, onward and hopefully upwards.

i dont get the midfield thing. we havent had a settled 3 in there pretty much all season

Gunnerson was our best midfielder and Bryson would not have performed better, the shape was not the reason Grujic couldn't pass or control the ball or their midfielders being too quick for Patterson. I like Manga but agree Peltier the better option against Wolves

I totally agree. For me, Manga should be on the bench for the remaining games unless cover for Bamba and Morrison. Brutally honest but he is a liability at full back.

Your point concerning an untried midfield set up is well made and ideally it should have been tested first but of course Ralls is not yet fully fit and in which case for this match I think Gunnar was always going to be a better choice than Bryson. I'm sure Warnock would have learnt a lot about that midfield configuration last night and with Ralls maybe expected to return by Friday he will have an opportunity to hone it a little more.

Agree with you both, Peltier for Manga, I'm not sure on Gunner, he seemed to upset the balance, but Warnock will get it right !!!

I agree with the OP regarding Peltier being a specialist RB. Warnock seems to prefer Mangas height, particularly at set pieces, which suits our structured and drill orientated playing style. Then again, if you’re going to use the “specialist” factor as you’re main reason, surely you can’t then suggest Bamba (a specialist CB) be moved into a holding midfielder, where he’s struggled on numerous occasions.

If we weren’t as high in the league, I think we’d be hearing a lot more opinions on the RB selection, but given our current elevated league position, it’s hard to disagree with Warnock.
