Gunnarsson

Tue Apr 03, 2018 7:16 am

I thought Gunnarsson played well last night considering how long he's been out so this is certainly not a criticism of how he personally played last night.

However, I do worry that playing him has upset a midfield that has won us all those games since the turn of the year.

With him playing the holding role it moved Grujic into a diferent position and seemed to limit Patterson's performance too. It could have been the pitch or just players getting used to a new system but it's a slight concern going into the Wolves game.

With Grujic holding we have become used to him keeping possession and having that extra yard of pace along with his passing ability that Gunnar, or anyone else in our squad, just doesn't have. Even the Sky commentary team commented on how the Sheffield midfield dominated last night.

I'm hoping that it's just players getting used to diffedrent roles but it will be interesting to see how Warnock plays it on Friday.

It's the first full game they have played together! Of course it will take some adjusting, if anything I thought it was our wide players that were the biggest issue last night.

Still can't believe people would drop Grujic! Although Paul is the most negative poster on here so I suppose I shouldn't be that surprised!

I think I would drop Gunner we've looked great without him, and last night we looked terrible in midfield?

Warnock will know, it will be interesting to see what he does, I think he will make a good few changes, possibly bringing Manga back in the centre and Bamba protecting the defence?

i said Grujic, neither is being negative though.

fact is we havent had a settled midfield for the majority of the season, so people are talking about balance but im not overly sure why.

if ralls is fit id definitely start him

Gunnarsson was utter tripe yesterday, I actually welcomed the selection after Bryson's start v Burton and how neat and tidy Gunnarsson was when he come on but he cost us the battle in midfield and was like a headless chicken, bar a mazey run and shot that went wide he was clueless last night on the field.

No play maker in midfield. if the wingers have an off day like they did last night we create f**k all.

I thought Gunnar was our best player but I'd play Grujic Ralls and Paterson. Gunnar for the last 30 to put some tackles in if needed :thumbright:
