The Bluebirds have been in red-hot form of late and have won seven games on the bounce. However, their last encounter against play-off hopefuls Derby County before the international break was controversially called-off.

It has caused owner Vincent Tan to reimburse the traveling supporters the cost of their tickets. They will be hoping to now keep up their momentum after the international break against the Brewers.

Nigel Clough’s side have struggled to get going this season. And with just eight games to spare, they are placed 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table – however, they’re just three points adrift of 21st placed Barnsley and staying in the Championship is definitely achievable.

They must pick up form at this crucial stage of the season, though. They showed that they have a lot of fight left in them in their last encounter after narrowly losing to leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Molineux.

Burton have faired well on the road recently and they will be hoping to keep that up in South Wales on Friday afternoon. Over the course of the last 10 games, they have won four games, and drawn once in that period – and are 12th in the Championship form table.

Cardiff will fancy their chances against Clough’s side as they looked to maintain the pressure on leaders Wolves and will surely be buoyed by the return of Icelandic midfield maestro, Aron Gunnarsson after he played on international duty for his country.

Cardiff have been in stunning form at home over the course of the last 10 games. They have the third best form – only Millwall and Preston North End have better form over that spell at home.

If the Bluebirds do beat Burton Albion, it will edge them even closer to a dream return to the Premier League and keep their confidence booming.

But they can’t afford to be complacent. Burton are a battling side and they showed in the other fixture between these two sides that they can be a threat going forward, despite Kenneth Zohore’s goals separating the two sides courtesy of a moment of sheer class from the Dane star.

Former Bluebirds defender Ben Turner will no doubt receive a good reception. The 29 year-old scored in the 2012 League Cup final against Liverpool to take the game to extra time, but they went onto lost the game on penalties. He has made 24 appearances for the Brewers so far this season.

Burton knocked the Bluebirds out of the Carabao Cup earlier on in the season after goals from Ben Fox and Tom Naylor helped to inflict Cardiff’s first defeat of the season at the time.

Brewers manager Clough is in his second spell of charge of the club. He also oversaw proceedings of the Staffordshire-based outfit between 1998 to 2009, where he took charge of over 700 games.

His record at the helm this time around hasn’t been as good as when he was first employed as Burton Albion boss. In the 11 years he spent in his first spell, he had a win percentage of 43.72%.

Since he was appointed in 2015, he has taken charge of 100 games at Burton Albion, but only has a win percentage of 33%, but will hope to add to that on Friday against Warnock’s high-flying side.

By the looks of it, it will be busy. I rung the ticket office this morning looking for two tickets in the canton and there was nothing available. So we’ve had to settle for elsewhere.
