Neil Etheridge looking to make history

Neil Etheridge is just one of several Bluebirds out on international duty this week, with his beloved Philippines gearing up for a crucial Asian Cup qualifier with Tajikistan.

Etheridge and his colleagues go into the contest currently top oif their group and know that a win will see them secure their first ever appearance at the competition.

NEIL ETHERIDGE:

“There have been great opportunities for me on the international stage and it’s a huge chance to make history.
“The Asian Cup is in January 2019 in the United Arab Emirates. It’s always a tough one and, like the Africa Cup of Nations, it’s played within the season. We’ve been taking it step by step and now can see where it goes.”

Tajikistan just gone 1 up half way through the second half which would put the Philippines out. Cant find a list the teams so not actually sure Etheridge is playing. Either way he's got an awful long journey to be back at the Cardiff city stadium by 3pm on Friday.

Looked like he was going to cry when interviewed at the end. Very emotional, as he was at the start. Must mean a lot to him, after 10 years as an international.
Good luck to him, but he needs to get back quickly, no celebrating.

If City are promoted, his presence in the team, combined with the Phillipines doing the best in their history, could lead to a big interest in Cardiff City over there. More of a boost than Tan's red experiment.

My wife is Filippino and I just sent her family all my son's old City tops and shorts, so a few kids are running around doing the Ayatollah :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
