BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK: REVEALS AND UPDATES CARDIFF FANS

Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:53 am

:bluebird: NEIL WARNOCK THIS MORNING UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS :thumbright: :bluebird:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I was very fortunate they didn’t sack me after four defeats. I look at my pal Stuart McCall at Bradford who was sacked in sixth place. It’s just as important who you’re working for in the management game."

NEIL WARNOCK TALKS ABOUT:

Manager of the Month better than the previous times
Ralls out for near future, Paterson could take time too
Warnock admits he may have to take gamble on players with knocks
No problem on Junior Hoilett’s new deal
Says people should just let Wolves fans enjoy their current success

Put a figure on where you want to get to?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We think we’re three points short of the play-offs. I don’t think we’ve ever looked beyond that. We let other teams worry about that."

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Joe Ralls has got a problem with his knee. We don’t know how long he’ll be out. He won’t be available in the near future. There’s two tough away games and then an international break."

"But most of them, Gunnarsson included, could be available after that. We could have a proper squad for the run-in of eight or nine."

"Callum Paterson had a scan an there’s nothing untoward there but obviously it was that knee that he had the operation on, but it’s nothing to do with that injury it’s the other side. When you look at it on the video, it’s an innocuous challenge."

" Sean Morrison is training really hard. We’re going to involve him and put some sort of a game on if we can to test him. I don’t want to risk him if it’s going to put him out for another five weeks.

Garry Monk?

NEIL WARNOCK:
"He’s a good young manager. He’s not always had a fair crack of the whip. I’ve been at Leeds and I know how tough it is and it didn’t work out at Boro. You look at the Birmingham teamsheet they should be in the top half."

"It’s like Barnsley the other night, that was one of the most physical Barnsley side’s I can remember. It’s going to be a difficult one. They spent quite a bit in the summer and Garry knows what he wants in the Championship. They’ve got some decent strikers and widemen."

" ALL NEIL WARNOCKS UPDATES BELOW " :thumbright: :bluebird:

On Warnocks award

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I was just saying to the lads that it’s a great accolade. The first one was good for me but this one really is for the whole club. All around the club. Not just the players and me as well. The way were supported in January with the window. The fans have been fantastic. The staff around the place have been on their toes and we’ve had horrific injuries but we’ve coped. It means a lot more than the first one."

Taking a gamble on injuries

NEIL WARNOCK:

"In normal circumstances none of them would be playing this weekend, but these aren’t normal circumstances. Sometimes you’ve got to have a gamble but I don’t want to do something stupid. We’ve got to play it by ear. I know it’s vague, but the fittest of the injured players will have to put their boots on."

"With the injuries, you could pick a good team with the lads that are out and I’d be disappointed if I didn’t get into the top half with that team."

Incredible run of form

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I was very fortunate they didn’t sack me after four defeats. I look at my pal Stuart McCall at Bradford who was sacked in sixth place. It’s just as important who you’re working for in the management game."

"There were reasons for all four of those defeats. We had one or two horrific decisions go against us. To come through that and regroup was pleasing. The January window helped us. We brought in some good pros."

Better than the other awards?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I’ve had a good look at my career and I’ve not had an injured 11 that would have got in the team. But we haven’t moaned about it, we’ve just got on with it. The players that have come in have done really well. Limited but we’ve managed to get results. All credit to them they’ve been a credit to me and I’m really proud of them ."

Injury updates - Joe Ralls?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Joe Ralls has got a problem with his knee. We don’t know how long he’ll be out. He won’t be available in the near future. There’s two tough away games and then an international break."

"But most of them, Gunnarsson included, could be available after that. We could have a proper squad for the run-in of eight or nine."

Re: NEIL WARNOCK:

Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:58 am

Callum Paterson?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"He had a scan an there’s nothing untoward there but obviously it was that knee that he had the operation on, but it’s nothing to do with that injury it’s the other side. When you look at it on the video, it’s an innocuous challenge."

"The lad landed on him and just pushed his knee inwards, so it’s bound to be a bit sore. But you know what Paterson’s like it will take a bit to get him going."

Re: NEIL WARNOCK:

Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 am

Sean Morrison?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Morrison is training really hard. We’re going to involve him and put some sort of a game on if we can to test him. I don’t want to risk him if it’s going to put him out for another five weeks. I’d rather he miss another game and then be available for Brentford and Derby next week."

"That’s more important A lot depends on other people being fit. Connolly’s got a knock as well. Whoever’s fittest of the injured lads will be playing."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:02 am

Do injuries galvanise the team?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I’m just ‘hey ho’ now if they’re out. I don’t worry so much now and that’s stood us in good stead. It’s obviously disappointing but life’s too short really. The other lads have had to step up."

"When the injured players are back my main problem will be who to leave out. They could be playing one week and not in the 18 the next."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Best promotion?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"By a mile. I don’t think there’s any comparison. I think Rotherham was a big achievement for me and that whet my appetite really."

"When I met Mehmet it was a no-brainer. I liked him as soon as I met him. Since then it’s been great. It’s been a challenge but they’re all battles I’ve really enjoyed. Bringing the club together has been my biggest enjoyment. It’s great to do that and we’re just enjoying ourselves."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:05 am

Junior Hoilett new deal?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"That’s not a problem. We were just waiting until I signed! That was my blackmail. He kept asking me where we were going to be next year and I kept having to say ‘I don’t know Junior, give us a few weeks!’"

"Him and Sol have followed me around through thick and thin really, to the extent of not signing for anyone through July, August, September, waiting for me to get a club in October. There’s not many players that would do that."

"But I love all my lads I think they’ve been fabulous and all have different personalities."

"As I said to them the other day we can only do our best now. If we can’t get straight up, we’ll go in the play-offs and if we can’t get there we’ll have another crack next year. I’m not really concerned about that, but clubs that feel they should be in the Premier League are feeling the pressure."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Aston Villa v Wolves

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I heard them saying Talksport that it’s 33k sellout. They take 6,500 to Sheffield United. I remember the Villa shirts as a kid, they were my favourite until I got my red and white stripes."

"When I was at Scarborough, my first game in the Football League was against Wolves, when that fan fell through the roof! "

"There’s so much stuff going on with their finances, they can sign Neymar for all I care. They’ve been through so much in the last 15-20 years. Let them enjoy it."

"We wish we had contacts they had. I don’t want to start moaning about what advantages they’ve got. Good luck to them."

"When you look at Fulham, he’s one of my favourite managers. They play football in a different way. You got Cairney there where they’ve turned down £18m. How can you do that as a Championship club? But he wants to stay. It shows why teams are doing so well and that’s so important in the Championship."

Wolves' spending habits?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Wolves have had it hard for so long. My first game in the Football League when I got promotion was Wolves. I remember a guy falling through the roof! The Wolves fans are unbelievable and have had to put up with so much over the last 20 years.
All this talk of advantages - let them sign who they want. It doesn’t bother me if they sign Neymar. I think it’s great, I wish we had all contacts like they have. Let’s not start bitching about them. Good luck to them because they’ve been in the doldrums for so long."

"When they’ve been down for so long, let the fans enjoy it. Why moan about it? If I could get some of those players he’s got I’d have them."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Jealous of Wolves?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Mendes has got worldwide players, it was the same when I was at QPR in the Premier League - there were names coming at me from his players. They are using it and why not? That’s football."
"If you can get an advantage, good luck to you, as long as it’s not illegal. I don’t see anything illegal in an agent helping a club.
You do get jealousies but I’m sure most of the people bitching about it wish they were in the same situation."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Spending that much money?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"It’s alright having money, but you’ve still got to spend it right. You’ve still got to get a dressing room behind you and Nuno has got good players who are fighting for him. Sometimes it’s more difficult when you’ve got money."

"I could tell you two or three clubs who have spent fortunes and I wouldn’t spend any money on their players. I think they’ve done well with the players they’ve got and the spine of the old British players has helped them on the pitch and in the dressing room."
"We’re delighted we’re not far off them at this stage of the season with what we’ve got."

"We had to shop at the other end but who’s to say Aldi is not as good as Waitrose. I like going in Aldi, they’ve got a nice bottle of whisky in there."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:17 am

Did you think you’d be back in the Premier League?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"My plan was at Sheffield United was to get them up and keep them up but the way it ended left a bitter taste in the mouth. But then my friend Simon Jordan gave me a call and I got a hunger for it again."

"As a player when I got free transfers I always wanted to prove something to the managers that let me go. I do love the Championship. I love creating what we’ve creating.
It’s a lovely feeling for a manager to do that. I’m really proud with what we’ve done here. We’ve not just built a team, we’ve built a club.
I think Sharon’s illness is a really big part of why I’m here, because if it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have gone to Rotherham, and Rotherham did whet my appetite again.
I want people to remember me in certain ways. I’ve said before how I’d like certain clubs to sing a certain song when I pass away."

2nd or play-offs?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Whatever will be, will be. I said with Vincent that if we don’t go up we’ll have another go and he’s happy with that. I think we’ll have a better idea on injuries after the Derby game."

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK:

Do the players know the task?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"If you haven’t got ambitions as a player, there’s something wrong with you. They know we’ve done far more than we envisaged. I always said that if we can get in the play-offs anything can happen. I enjoy the play-offs even though they are pressurised."

"I think we’ve got an exciting run-in. I know we’re in a greate position, and I like how our fans aren’t expecting too much."

"They’re like me and they just think we should give it a go. But football is all about fans dreaming. From our point of view we’d like to be there, but we know that there’s two or three other clubs with much bigger clubs."

"As long as the lads do their best, I won’t have a go at them."

He's an absolute delight to listen to.

Fantastic football man, loved everywhere he's managed ( except Leeds and the last manager they were happy with was Don Revie) .

Hated by everyone else because he's had the better of them all

We are so lucky to be experiencing Neil Warnock as manager of our club :thumbup6:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"It was a real accolade to win the award for February. This one wasn’t just for me though - it was for the entire club.
It’s turning out really exciting. I think myself and the players have all really enjoyed it. If our season ended today, I couldn’t complain about the effort and commitment, not just from the players and fans, but from Mehmet, Vincent, Ken and all of the staff at Cardiff City FC."

"Everybody seems to be on the same page and behind us, and it makes for a very happy environment."
