Reading 8000?

What's happening at Reading only 8k tonight

Re: Reading 8000?

Stam did a really good job last season and, as that Reading fan who commented on Warnock’s contract said, they rewarded him with a new contract. They spent little money last season and were so close to making the Premier League again.

Not gone to plan this season and it seems their fans have voted with their feet. Always been quite fickle around there though, a lot will go and watch the London clubs in the Premier League if Reading aren’t doing well. That’s a reason there’s no excuse for our poor crowds, with the Jacks being the only high-profile club in a nearby distance. Can’t even think who would be the closest Premier League club apart from them?

It won’t change the noise in their stadium though, even quieter than our stadium. Down there with Fulham and Charlton in terms of home fans’ noise.

Yeah done reading so many times I have forgotten how many times have have been there. Always quiet support. But still 8k is a huge drop from 12 to 13k which was lowest they normally get.

Cardiff had one of their lowest gates of the season nearly 3,000 down on their average six teams in the Championship had bigger crowds than Cardiff. Why did all the fans stay away with Cardiff second in table?

I know you’re a Jack, but on this occasion you’re spot on. Should be getting thousands more for our matches - last night was abysmal in terms of the crowd.

Also, looks like Carlos is doing the job required. Can’t see you going down now. There are teams with worse tactics and worse quality. Sticking with Carlos for a while will serve you well, look at Wednesday since he left.

For some reason was only 2 coaches for city fans last night normally 4 or 5? Just shows we don't have the support people think we have for whatever reason. :o

Barnsley only brought about 150 fans, if you take out away fans our home attendance was only beaten by Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Norwich and about the same give or take a couple of 100 as Fulham and Birmingham which is expected so for the division our crowds, whilst dissapointing to some wasn't a total disaster for a midweek game with minimal away fan following.

Incidently, our crowd last night was higher than your average the season you went up so I findon't your post a bit ironic to be fair unless of course you were being sincere in which case I'll give you the benefit of the doubt ;)

With the same size stadium as you, we’d get 33,000 against the likes of Man U , Chelsea, Liverpool etc...for the rest, would depend on how well the team were playing, play badly, probably 20,000 - 22,000, play well 25,000 plus. Just my opinion.

If that is the case then why have you not extended your stadium in the 8 years you have been in the Premier?

I think the reason the stadium has not been expanded is because the club do not want to borrow the £28 to fund it then find themselves in debt.

But then you cannot survive in premiership on such low crowds ? also your fantastic Yankee owner's all 27 of them, won't get any extra income as they have stated so to line their pockets be taking it from TV revenue and making your club more financially unstable in long term. :old:

I’m not an expert on it, but I’d imagine because the liberty wasn’t owned by the club.
It is now more or less owned by the club (37 yr lease), which means the club can and probably will expand soon.

Name one club that can survive just on tv money ?.
And if the Americans have said that, which I haven’t heard, probably means, they want to expand the clubs revenue and to be fair to them that’s what they are doing.

The Swans turnover last yr was £127.8 million, up from £97.2 million the yr previous.

And with the club now in full control of the liberty, naming rights (monies) will go to the club.

The Swans seem to be in a very comfortable position financially , so please don’t worry yourself to much.
