Would be sell out every week in the prem???

Sun Mar 04, 2018 10:38 am

As the title says guys, if we were to go up, do you think we would sell out every week?? Given that we are closing in on promotion averaging less than 20k seems a little low.

I think last time out average attendance was about 30k.
So technically no. But not far off.

We would (I think) technically sell out every game but there would be empty seats for the smaller games.

Eh ! the capacity was less than 28k but I think the average was pretty close to that. We would need to sell another 10,000 + season tickets and we probably would.

Yea sorry we had 27,480 average attendance last time.

Capacity was increased season end wasn’t it?

Capacity was increased after we were relegated, I believe we sold out every game In premiership but capacity was different each game due to segregation

We would start off selling out but if things went pear shaped the crowds would drop off a bit unless it was a big team.

Probably, but there's a long way to go yet.

Re: Would be sell out every week in the prem???

I know there's a long way to go, valid point. But I feel we have already done the hard bit. Having said that, 4 points from the Xmas period instead of 4 straight losses and it would be very nearly game over.

We'd sell over 26000 season tickets .

Problem is most would turn up at big games only

I am not so sure we would get 33,500 every home game or even 30,000 plus every home game.

I reckon we would average about 27,000 due to games like Manchester United being 33,500 sell outs, but the average match will be down on last time we were in the Premier League, just my strong opinion.

I think there’s a limit of season tickets you can sell as a percentage of capacity. Am I right on that?

I'll be getting my season ticket this week coming regardless. Can't wait for our second season.

Yes Neil, it was 22,500 last time when capacity was 27,500 :thumbright: :bluebird:

Club say they will be giving 15% of our 33,500 to away fans and also have to have tickets to buy per match :bluebird:

31500 average would put us in the top 10.

Would need to sell about 26k season tickets for that.

Even an average of 25k would be 14th

There are a lot of sides in the prem with smallish grounds

.. and a lot of bigger sides in the Championship.

Leeds, Villa, Sheff Weds, Forest , Sheff Utd, Derby all have really good support and big grounds.

A few more would argue they should be on that list too

"the bluebirds" have never been in the premier league so who knows.

Doubt sell out every game as stoke ect won't appeal to most! Probably still have complaints we didn't sell out though.

I’m not sure?

I didn’t enjoy it at all, it didn’t seem the same and the atmosphere was shit, it was a different type of fan, and to be honest has never been the same since.

Plenty of new fans no doubt, but a few more older more hard core fans will drop off imo.

Also the games are shown in pubs on the boxes, so a few more would chose to watch in the pub?

So I’m good not to say no except for the Swansea game, and the top six.

This season was our first, me and my lads have loved it. Even the Mrs and great auntie have came for a few games and had a good crack. Couldn't quite persuade them into ditching liverpool and hereford United though. Hahahaha

Cardiff are a club with a hardcore support of around 19k
Cardiff in a premier league season would easily add 15k to that because of the interest around the area in premier league football.

So yes we would sell out every game.

I actually think a consistent succesfull top 6 team in this area would probably pull around 50k.

The simple answer is no...home games against say Huddesfield or Brighton would be unlikely to sell out

But I would think we would average somewhere between 27-30k

Cheers man. We moved from hereford to around 40 mins from cardiff. I always kinda supported liverpool but never went to any games, casually watched some hereford games. Our first ever game at cardiff was the Portsmouth game in darling cup, then villa on the Saturday. Since then we have been to 10 games. Will be there Tuesday, then derby away. Can't wait. My boys have absolutely loved it. I managed to get my old great auntie to the norwich game which she enjoyed. We will be getting season tickets for next season, cannot wait for it.

I don't think we would! For most bottom half teams we'd see around 27/28k I rekon. Most top half teams would see a sell out or close.

We will be a sell out nearly every home and away game, as experience shows us from the 2013/14 season in the Premier League
