Former Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch has joined Vancouver Whitecaps on loan.

The 26 year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Crystal Palace and has swapped for the Premier League for the MLS by joining the Canadian based side.
He becomes the latest player to make the move from Britain to America. We have seen the likes of Wolves duo Jack Price and Joe Mason move to Colorado Rapids, Johnny Russell to Sporting Kansas City and most recently Sheffield Wednesday’s James Murphy to Los Angeles City.
Mutch spent the latter part of last season on loan to Reading in the Championship having fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace. He was heavily linked with a move to Burton Albion in the summer but remained with the South London side, even though his chances would be hard to come by.
He is a proven player at Championship level and it is a bit of a shock to see him move to the MLS. However, the opportunity of moving to the MLS is a interesting one for any footballer.
Mutch started his career at Birmingham City before moving to Cardiff City in 2012. He helped the Bluebirds get promoted to the Premier League in 2013 but could not prevent them from being relegated the season after. He left them for QPR but spent just 6 months at Loftus Road before being snapped up by Crystal Palace.
The move to Palace has not worked out for Jordan Mutch but this loan move to Vancouver Whitecaps is one where he gets the chance to impress in the MLS.

This surprises me, although Jordan Mutch hasn't started too many times (I nearly said 'much'

) of late but I'm just glad he didn't make a return here when some were calling for him in the summer
I thought the same about Fraizer Campbell and generally I'm against 'returnees'; particularly ones who I feel would be 'using' the Bluebirds for a final pay day (one of my big issues with the current Derby County player)
Each to their own but I like loyalty and I prefer having players our manage and fans can trust implicitly

Maybe a bit too professional for me.... He knew his stock was high and cashed in. But professional footballers lifespan is so short and variable, i would definitely do the same.
We often go OTT when we are in a bit of a lull. Mutch came in during the promotion season when teams sussed us "stop Whitts stop Cardiff". Playing in the hole he obviously got an eye for goal and was fit and strong and got us over the line (with a bit to spare)
During the disappointing dull premier league season he was the one ray of light in what was an acrimonious season.
Got his moves, he's made his money. But for me lacks versatility, can only play the central attacking midfielder off a hard working striking who works the channels and creates space for him and obviously has the athletic robustness of a chocolate teapot.
Wish him good fortune in the MLS as i believe his days of big contract as well over.

A bit injury prone too

Shame someone like Jordan Mutch could continue his great goal scoring record for Cardiff in the Premier League, he was amazing for us in the Premier League

How many did he actually score for us (or anyone else), Sam?

Strange one because the Whitecaps have a very small salary cap, only one player last year on over a $1M a year
Suggests Palace are paying a massive amount of wages so clearly nobody in the championship wanted him because he’s costing next to nothing to sign on loan, shocking standard over here though get more time on the ball than Man City in this Chelsea game

He scored 7 for us in the Premier.
The most famous one was a late winner against Fulham to secure our first away win in the league. He scored the goal away at Anfield and got one in the return at CCS against them.

Thanks
I recall the Fulham one but didn't remember him being 'prolific', which he clearly wasn't. A good player though and possibly had his best season at Cardiff City before thinking he'd cracked it and slowly going downhill with the wrong choices; mainly money orientated, if reports are to be believed

Probably got sick of no one spelling his name right

He only ever scored 7 goals in 57 games.
He was brilliant in the prem but overally I think a lot of fans think back with rose tinted glasses.

Even if he wanted to come back to cardiff he wouldn't have the Warnock DNA to be a success.it not just about ability it's about blood, guts and thunder.
