You have to Admit thats Superb Support

What ever you think about Leeds or their fans, not many clubs would take this away on a Friday night, live on Sky, many roads closed, horeendous conditions and Leeds not even doing well on the pitch.

Mallo, they travel in their thousands no matter how bad their club is on the pitch, nothing seems to stop them.

Superb support week in week out mate, Sheffield Wednesday are another one fair play to them, sure they took 1500 to Millwall midweek the other day plus 1000+ to the Jacks the other night and over with, 2,000 here.

They have been out of the top flight for nearly 20 years having another poor season but still maintain the same level of home crowds aswell, don't know how they do it, must be a loyal bunch

Never question their support but got to be honest as fans they do seem to love themselves due to being so well supported.

It is great support

But if you had to live in Leeds you'd take every possible opportunity to get out of that place wouldn't you

It's not that far away and if you ever have been to Leeds, people generally look for as many excuses as possible to get the hell out of there. 2500? Not that good really :old:

I was reading on Away days it took some Leeds fans nearly 4 hrs to get up there last night due to the terrible weather conditions and a Friday.

Even if there had not been bad weather, 2 hrs normally, plus it was live on Sky and a Friday night and leeds are not even top 6.

So you don't think 2,500 is Not good?

Name me other clubs in the Championship that would of taken that many in the same conditions/miles/sky/night match etc and not in the top 6?

Please name them?? ?

Martin,

In the early 70's (nearly 50 years ago) Leeds had massive support in South Wales, in my class, I was the only Cardiff fan, the rest were Leeds,Man United and Liverpool

My point proved once again .correct sheff wed like Leeds haven't had any success for years but historically they've spent many years in the top division.sheff wed 66 years in total Leeds 50 years .The best supported clubs in the championship are the ones who have HISTORICALLY spent the most seasons in the top flight only 2 buck that trend Norwich and Bolton.

Leeds and Sheff Wed have spent many years now struggling, but kept brilliant support.

It does not happen with all clubs

Bolton and Ipswich awful support after many years of top flight football

You have either got massive support or you haven't.

Clubs like Bournemouth/ Swansea / Fulham / Blackburn / Wigan etc can spend years and years up in the Premier League

Bournemouth away end half empty away at Leicester City today (Premier League) and plenty of Lincoln fans joined them

A lot of Leeds fans live within 10 miles of Boro.

We stopped off at Northallerton on our way to Boro and the landlord and some of the regulars were Leeds fans. It's a local Derby for them.

Not knocking their support. It's light years better than ours, due to loads of Judas guys who'd support them over their local club, but it is the equivalent of us taking 2500 on a no restrictions trip to Swansea

Tim, Leeds played away last season live on tv at Norwich and they sold out, Leeds usually sell out if its even a 700 mile round trip.

I can't stand them, but their away support is Top 10 in the Uk.

Its a 150 mile rd trip in awful conditions last night.

Leeds hate Man United and to them thats their real derby game.

Tim, Leeds are not even in a play off place.

Any football fan travelling this weekend deserves a medal. Those Leeds fans travelling up there on Friday night are mad enough to be sectioned. No surprise they sell out for a relatively short trip but that's people buying tickets well in advance. The fact that they pretty much all still went is astonishing given the conditions, their form and it being live on the box.

Leeds have their legacy support from the 70's, fans in every town the breadth and depth of the country but I think you have consider the local demographic context influencing their support.

Leeds is a huge city, lying in a well populated municipal region.

As a city its bigger than Liverpool, as a city its bigger than Manchester. As a city its bigger than the cities of Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough combined.

As a municipal region which excepted includes Bradford and Huddersfield, its bigger than Merseyside, Its bigger than Tyne and Wear and Teeside combined. Its only a little smaller than the metropolitan area of Manchester but that includes Stockport, Oldham, Bolton, Bury and Rochdale etc.

The district of Wakefield to the south, which is included in the municipal area has no football club and a population similar to the city of Cardiff. Add that population to the county of North Yorkshire which is not in the municipal area and that population alone is almost as big as that of the South East Wales Municipal area. North Yorkshire's only professional club - York City, its a pretty exclusive Leeds supporting county.

There's no doubting Leeds support, infact in the modern era I'm pretty sure that given the right success they could get well over 50 k crowds. They're still a giant even when they're sleeping.
