I'm almost sure that Toshack stuck 3 in against Hull in the 70's(my second experience at 11 yrs of age and still memorable, was in the first row behind the wall in the Grange end) he was deffo wearing white shorts and shirt without any sponsorship shenanigans to match
To this day, I'm still curious why we now have blue shorts?

It's varied over the years, but white shorts have been used more than blue down the years.
I find the following site useful

Thanks for that
For me we should be in white

our kit in Malky's first year was the closest I can recall to the one I like the best - slightly darker blue top, white shorts, white socks. Away kit was white top, just like when we got promoted in the early 60s.
Not a fan of blue shorts...nor any yellow, which I recall was a rebrand in the 70s

I love a yellow trim with our blue and white.
It looks great and reminds me of our kit with the yellow and white stripe. Brilliant.

Blue and white are our colours. When the yellow was introduced it was fashionable because they were Leeds' colours - who were successful at the time. It was an embarrassment to me and many others at the time. Always hated the yellow because of the Leeds origin.

What a load of utter codswallop!
You keep on believing that!

See the site I referred to above. It doesn't prove what I'm saying but it does support it. Look when the yellow first appeared. I was there at the time, I don't know if you were.
We all assume - me included - that how things were when we first started attending matches (1969 in my case) is how things ought to be. The reason I've stated above for introducing the yellow was what most people believed at the time - and found it a bit silly. I can't see it any other way, sorry.

I go back a few years earlier and remember us playing in blue shorts in the late sixties. I prefer the white.
Off topic slightly - that was Toshack's last home game. I think Hull were top and we beat them 5-1 and possibly replaced them at the top. What a time to sell your leading goalscorer! Finished third in the end.

Great to watch it again. I clearly remember Tosh's hat trick goal. Nice to see Ian Gibson again, one of the most creative midfield players I have ever seen for us. I think we beat Hull 6-0 and 3-0 the seasons before. The Hull keeper was Ian McKechnie or something like that. I remember we used to give him stick from the Grange End. We obviously got to him if he let in 14 goals in three games.
