Birmingham City are in trouble with the FFP, the sanctions could be fatal

Wednesday February 28, 2018 Sports

Birmingham City are going through a difficult season, they have been struggling from the start of the season, and are currently in the 22th position with only 30 points.

And it gets worse for the Blues, the latest reports say that Birmingham City will find out today whether they have failed FFP.

If they have failed the Financial Fair Play Regulations, the sanctions could be fatal for the club.

The the sanctions could include:

– Fine
– Transfer embargo
– Points deduction
– Administration (as they reportedly owe £50m)

All of the sanctions above could rise the crisis of the club, especially the points deduction, that means they would be relegated automatically to League 1.

Would that mean their record this sesaon being erased? How would that affect ours, Wolves,Villa's results etc.?

Yeah. It was just wishful thinking on my part. We just have to make sure we get the 3 points back when we play them at home then.

Not at all sure that they will be in breach of the FFP/P&S regulations.

This report just says that they now have to submit their financial figures to the EFL - it doesn`t quote what those figures are.

They have to submit audited accounts for the year to 30 June 2016 (showing a loss of £6m) , those for the year to 30 June 2017 (showing a loss of £14.6m) plus estimated accounts for the year to 30 June 2018 (4 months of which there are obviously no actual figures for yet). For the two full years they do have figures for , the total loss comes to £20.6m so not at all clear if they will be in breach of the 3 year £39m allowable loss figure.

I said a few years back this would start happening.
A lot of Cardiff supporters on here moaning about not spending and lacking ambition because of it.

Our board have had to cut back for these reasons and well done to them.

Birmingham now will soon be followed by Derby, Middlesbrough, Norwich. And if they dont get promoted, Wolves and Fulham. Its a massive risk when you spend big and don't get one of the 3 promotion spots.

Re: “ BIrmingham City Are Really In Trouble “

And to think back at the start of the season some of their fans and some in the media saw them as promotion co tenders because of Harry

Derby and Villa would lose 4pts.

Fulham and Wolves would lose 3pts.

We would lose none.

But there is no way they will be dumped out of the league with their result expunged.

o god, how great would that be
10 games left and 8 points clear, and only 3 behind Wolves

That might still be the case if results go our way. Of course we could also be 12 behind Wolves & 2 behind Villa if they don't. Still not catastrophic even then.

Never understood Brum, never rated them, bore the socks off me, clueless managerS, sacked Rowett who is overrated and since gone major into freefall.

It would be sad to see a great old BIG club like Birmingham City FC that gave us the likes of Trevor Francis and Bob Latchford and even now in the position they are in take away more than us.

Be sad to see them go under just like Pompey

As I've stated on here many times the teams with biggest support both home and away are the ones with most seasons in top division Birmingham have had 57 seasons there.reading who had less than 7000 last night have only had 3 seasons there.

I couldn't give a shit, they've had their turn, I would like to see all the premier league teams struggle and drop and see teams lower down now get a share of the Sky money !!!

It is sad for a club to face Financial Fair Play Penalties, as of course Cardiff faced a couple of seasons ago so things can go bad to worse to the brummy side

Anotherclub who thought the re-brand was hilarious and their fans ripped into us at any opportunity with the old "sell outs" "sold your soul"

Feck em!!!

I quite like the Blues. Proper club, with proper fans. Went to St. Andrews this season. They beat us fairly comfortably, and their fans created a good atmosphere. Sorry to see them in this situation.

I'm with you on that! :thumbright:

I always enjoy going there and never really saw the Brummies as any big foe!

Brian, SamRean's grandfather, is one of the guys I go to away games with. He played up front for Birmingham City in the 1950's before settling in the Vale of Glamorgan. Annis and Carl will know him from the bus; he's hard not to hear with his strong Bromsgrove accent and was infamous for daring to wear a red Cardiff City scarf on one of Carl's buses! That was an entertaining 2 minutes! LOL

Always sad to see any club hit the bottom and we need to remember it could so easily have been us at one point not too long ago! :thumbright:

Well more than a bit, I am sure many on here will exclude the manager from this as it's always the owners.

Well funny enough very good comparison with mm as he was given free reign to sign players and tan was blamed for signing the cheques! Harry did exactly the same spent bucket loads now brum having similar problems through wild spending by manager.

It might be touch and go considering they lost £14.6m last time and the room for error this time is £18.4m. Not sure how much Harry blew when he was there or how much it cost to get rid of him but clearly it is a badly run club.

Don't care about them or any other clubs that fall into trouble. All we would get is they shouldn't be in our league anyway piss off to the Welsh League where we belong.
