Brentford - Snow

Wed Feb 28, 2018 9:15 am

Anyone know what the weather is like in Brentford? I've checked online but they are usually wrong.

I hope this one isn't called off :sad7:

I think it’s tomorrows weather we need to be concerned about,

High probability it’ll be called off.

On a side note, just seen highlights of the reading - sheff United game (bit of snow on the pitch)

There’s no chance of reading doing us a favour on Saturday

You supposed to be going? We're leaving Caerphilly around 8:30 ( hopefully )
It'll be a great day especially if we get the W.

They seem to predict the worst of tomorrows weather now going west of London. However they think the end of the storm coming from the south will hit London Friday afternoon / evening. As soon as that's passed it will apparently turn a bit milder and snow clears from London much quicker than other towns and cities. So it probably depends on the extent of the snow Friday afternoon and how trigger happy those who make the decision are. If it was school it would be closed, if it was a train it would be cancelled. Lets hope they delay as if it is milder Saturday morning it would playable.

I remember a game at Charlton being cancelled a few years ago a couple of days in advance. I was in the area the day after it was cancelled, so I called in at the ground. You wouldn't have found enough snow to fill a wheel barrow.

Looking forward to Saturday so hopefully its on.

I live about 3 miles west of Brentford, and we had about 2 inches or so overnight, snow that is for the ones sniggering at the back of the class, currently -2 but sunny with more snow forcast for Friday.

Pitch maybe playable, but it will be the surrounding streets thay will be the problem.

Will keep you informed.

Seeing as the BBC can't persuade you that the snow isn't going to badly affect London before the weekend, I've just phoned my mate in Kensington and he said he'll use his weather forecasting system "Old Faithful" and get back to me ASAP :thumbright:

I know a similar system is used by farmers in rural parts of Wales and it's simple...

Basically, they tie a piece of string around a stone and hang it outside the bedroom window. Every time they need to know the weather, they open said window and use this formula...

If the stone is dry, then it's going to be a nice day
If the stone is wet, it's going to rain
If the stone is white, it's snowing
If the stone is gone, hurricane!

Hope that helps :thumbright: :laughing6:

Liam, just on way out but I always liked that one! :laughing6:

I think any issues might come from transport this end rather than problems staging the game itself :(

Fingers crossed it goes ahead with all ticketed City fans in attendance :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Hopefully it goes ahead and we can all attend!

We'll cut a hole in the bottom of the coach and become the new AHM. :laughing6:

The biggest problem is not whether the pitch is playable but if the terraces are safe for the fans

I remember that Charlton game. Called off the day before I think amidst rumours of foul play by Charlton. Didn't they have a cover for the pitch but "forgot" to put it on or something like that?

I seem to recall the conspiracy theorists saying that they deliberately wanted the game called off because they were struggling with injuries and suspensions.

One of their major players who would have missed the game if I recall correctly was a certain Mark Hudson!

I'm convinced the game was called off for other reasons, like Epping Blue, I was a mile from the ground at the time when the game was called off and there was little snow around, I couldn't believe it! I even went to the ground and took some photos as there was indeed no snow there. I even emailed them to Ridsdale to prove that Charlton were indeed up to something!!

Looking at picture on Brentford facebook page don't look likely that the game will go ahead.
