This was the attendance for the Reading / Sheff U game tonight. I k ow they ate having a poor season but that is STILL very low for a Championship side the size of Reading.
How may Season Ticket Holders do they have?

Is it a weather thing?
Well less than the attendance tonight unless they don't count ones who don't turn up?

Not the number of people who actually attend. (I understand the Football League rules say the same, although I couldn’t find the precise clause.)
The actual attendance figure can be quite different to the number of tickets that are issued or sold. Season ticket holders may not turn up for a midweek game. Complimentary, i.e. free, tickets could be issued but not used. People might even walk out in the middle of a match as a protest.
Modern day attendances are based on the number of tickets sold as opposed to the number of bums on seats which means the figures released are not a true reflection of the number of people in each ground.
Frustrating for the anoraks, but the easiest way for clubs to calculate attendances. The fact is, unless a few thousand season ticket holders decide not to turn up - which in itself is unlikely - attendance figures released will always be close to actual total.

In the 70's/80's Reading use to get 3,000-4,000 fans and barely bring 50 fans to Ninian Park, they were always known as a small club.
They only got big crowds in the Premier League, because most people in Reading Support all the Big London Clubs.
Reading might be fighting relegation, but thats a terrible home crowd.
Sheffield United were not even in the play-offs before last night, but still took about 700 plus to Reading.
