Vincent Tan on Neil Warnock's new deal

Tuesday 27th February 2018

It’s safe to say Vincent Tan is a happy man right now.

Here’s what he’s had to say about Warnock’s new contract.

“After positive talks, I am very pleased that Neil has committed to Cardiff City Football Club for a further two seasons.”

“Having supported Neil since his arrival at the Club, we have been delighted to see results follow on the pitch. We are very happy to have agreed this deal, and are looking forward to continuing to bring further success to Cardiff City.”

“We were also pleased to strengthen the team in the recent January window, and wish Neil and the entire squad much success in the games ahead.”

Interested to know what budget he will be given next year if we don't go up

£9 million less income due to parachute payments finishing...but I doubt very much he would have agreed a new deal if he has to find £9 million of savings next season

There is virtually no way he could mount a serious promotion bid if he had to sell 1/2 or maybe 3 of our best players

Neil Warnock has signed a new two-year contract extension with Cardiff City, the club have confirmed.

Tuesday 27th February 2018

The Yorkshireman joined the club in October 2016 following the sacking of Paul Trollope and steered the Bluebirds clear of relegation in his debut campaign in South Wales.

The veteran boss has since guided the Bluebirds to second place in his first full campaign in charge having signed a contract extension to remain in the Welsh capital beyond his initial deal.

Now, along with assistant manager Kevin Blackwell and coach Ronnie Jepson, he has put pen to paper on a fresh deal that runs until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

It dispels any doubts that Warnock wouldn't want to manage Cardiff in the Premier League, as has been previously reported.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan said: “After positive talks, I am very pleased that Neil has committed to Cardiff City Football Club for a further two seasons.

“Having supported Neil since his arrival at the Club, we have been delighted to see results follow on the pitch. We are very happy to have agreed this deal, and are looking forward to continuing to bring further success to Cardiff City.

"We were also pleased to strengthen the team in the recent January window, and wish Neil and the entire squad much success in the games ahead.”

Cardiff's Executive Director & CEO Ken Choo added: “I’m sure I speak for all fans of the Club when I say that we are thrilled to see Neil put pen to paper on a new contract.

“Neil has had a fantastic impact here in the Welsh capital and we know that he has all of the attributes and experience to continue the great work that he has already put in. I’m very much looking forward to the next two campaigns with him at the helm.”

I’m sure VT and KC are learning a lot about running a football club from NW.
Can only benefit the club long term along with Blackwell and Jepson.

If we do not go up, will we be able to hang on to the likes of Hoilett, Zohore, Ralls, Morrison, Bamba et al? :bluebird:

It wouldn’t come as a shock if he sold the club if we get promoted..

I'm not suprised he's happy we've spent a tuppence and warnock has us in the top two in Feb!

He has been backed though in fairness from the off this season, new contracts for big players, turned down big bids for Morrison and Zohore and allowed to bring in players early and then well backed in January. Seems the club from top to bottom is working in the same direction for once.

Tottaly agree with this! You've got to look at all transfers we've turned down as well as spending to understanding the full baking Warnock has had. 10mil+ for Zahore, 5mill for Morrison and 7-8mill on transfers. (I don't count Bennett as that was a clause in his contract).

What is crystal clear is the players love playing for him and will run through brick walls for him. Morrison, Zohore & Bennett could have forced those transfers through but they all chose to stay and that's because Warnock has build something special in just over a year!!

On the brighter side you've got to look at whats not been said.If Mr Warnock has signed a contract until 2020 you can guarantee
he will have secured the right financial backing whatever division we're in.

Please Annis get rid of this awful picture of Mr Tan, I'm not blaming you, but just saying it makes my stomach turn :(
