I think if this was introduced to the canton for next season it could bump the attendance for matches up a bit as the it would the atmosphere making people want to come down to the games more, i know Celtic made this a thing and the atmosphere down their has been incredible for modern football. what could be done to recommend something like this to the people up top who can call upon a decision ?

This needs to be introduced as Its not going to solve all problems, but it would greatly help. We go on about how modern football has changed the match day experience, but it’s only through the English leagues that it’s a problem with the atmosphere. Most clubs around Europe create a good atmosphere through standing together at games.

Yeah that’s all very true. I’m always very envious of clubs in Germany, they seem to have it right where they create a good atmosphere, and make it affordable to follow there club. I hope safe standing does get the go ahead at City at some point though, as you said they are doing it at Celtic so why not us.

I can't see the club spending good money to rip out good seats and pay to make the area safe standing as well. I guess it would mean we could no longer hold Wales games as well without a largely reduced capacity.
Also would it boost the crowd that much? I know some fans would rather stand but do that many people not go to games just because they can't stand? I think we would just see people move around the stadium rather than boost crowds.

I have stood in the Canton all season as has 90% of the stand, no need to rip seats out as the majority also take a seat at half time

That's not what safe standing is though. That's people who stand in a seating area.

If the club allow it then no need to rip out seats

I agree with you though, I would rather stand than sit but safety rules may dictate what the club do or even want to do. Will they turn any part of CCS into "safe standing", highly unlikely

Firstly , safe standing is not legal in England and Wales , only in Scotland. This is unlikely to change in the near future as the Government has stated that it has no current plans to even consider it. CCFC has no say in the matter.
Secondly , Celtic has turned out to be a bad example , as the behaviour of their fans when their safe standing area was introduced left a lot to be desired and has put back the campaign to have it more widely introduced.
Thirdly , as someone else has pointed out in this thread , the costs of putting in safe standing in an arena that is already all seater is very high. It is not just the cost off taking out seats and installing the safe seating rail system in their place , it also impacts on entry and egress areas which would also have to be altered for any increased capacity in a stand.

You wouldn’t lose capacity as there are still seats there you just have railings between rows to stop you falling forward. The seats are unavailable for league games but are unlocked for European games. I think that’s how Dortmund do it anyway. So the capacity increases for league games when you can stand but returns to the standard capacity when you have to sit....I think anyway from what I’ve read about safe standing.

Do Bristol City have a safe standing section at their ground?

Bring Standing back. You can move around, stand with those making most noise.

It'll be down to safety but it can/could be done. The set up in the old stadium's Ninian Stand (seating on the back level with standing on the front) was a great solution and gave people a choice
Some people (several around me) are not able to stand up for the whole game and they need to e considered; otherwise, what's the point of them attending?

Not 100% sure but does the County have a standing area?
Tue Feb 27, 2018 2:24 pm
Isn't it funny when governments can make it illegal to stand up at the football. Go pass some laws to put sex offenders in prison for longer you fucktards.

Surely if we go up with the money available they can introduce safe standing and the seats taken out can be used to change the seats from red to blue in the upper ninian ?

I was informed by a Steward at the CCS that only the two middle blocks in the Canton Stand are standing areas, which I was unaware of. He went on to say that they don’t mind us standing at the back of 103 as we regularly do (I’m guessing as long as no one complains).
I’m assuming the Steward is correct, but if not, does anyone know the official rules?
There’s three other stands for people who are unable to stand or prefer to sit, so is there a reason why the whole of the Canton can’t stand? Just two blocks seems an extremely low percentage of the stadium when you’re trying to create an atmosphere.
