CARDIFF CITY TICKETING SYSTEMS/POLICIES

Mon Feb 26, 2018 11:35 am

On Friday of last week, the online e-ticketing system showed the Canton and Ninian Stands as having 'no availability' for the Bristol City game, which forced many supporters to purchase tickets in other parts of the ground when booking online

There were some reports that supporters attending the Ticket Office were also told that those two Stands were sold out for Sunday's game, yet the reality on the day was that there were lots of gaps in both Stands; mainly on the wings of each

Those who attend more regularly will know from experience that most of these seats do not belong to Season Ticket Holders, so why do the club persist in 'holding back' or being economical with their anticipated attendance numbers?

It now seems that every week we have an anticipated attendance which is far higher than the reality and some of the mis-information appears to be coming from the club itself!

Another 'issue' to me (and I wouldn't be a particular beneficiary for the record) is how so many 'regular' away supporters appear to have lost out on the chance to go to the Brentford game next weekend.

It's easy to moan about 'Memberships' and 'Fan Numbers' but surely those hardy supporters who travel to away games regardless of the travel distance and/or opposition should have some sort of priority when it comes to the easy/attractive games now others appear to be realising that City are serious contenders this season?

Just putting the question out there. What do you think? :ayatollah:

In hindsight the club probably wish they'd used qualifying criteria for the Brentford tickets.

Other than that I personally don't have a problem with how they handle things.

I think if away tickets are still available 5-7 days before the fixture they should go on general sale

Away tickets should be available to anyone not just members or season ticket holders, everyone knows when they go on sale so no excuse if you do not get one. I do have sympathy for those who have been to the majority of away games and did not get a Brentford ticket but one minute we are complaining about poor away support and then when we sell out we moan about the system is wrong. Cannot have it both ways.

There are some who go to away games only, excellent support and I take my hats to them but the they do not go to home games so in effect those who only go to home games and the odd away game have every right as those who go away regularly.

I do not really know how they can make the system different, how do you decide who misses out if we have an allocation of 3000 away and we sell them all and them an allocation of 1600 like Brentford, who becomes the priority then? :ayatollah: :bluebird:

They should scrap away memberships. Season ticket holders should get priority, then they should go on sale to the general public. People use other people’s fan numbers anyway and Cardiff fans have been very well behaved for years now.

Many people are put off going away because they don’t want to pay for the membership or don’t have fan numbers to use.

I wish we didn't have to be a member to go to away games. Derby and villa are both games where I'm off work and would be ideal.

There were loads of tickets left in the canton on the day, I walked up at 11:30 and got my ticket for Block 104 canton.

That's the confusing bit, as people were told it was sold out on Friday and e-ticketing gave that impression!

It makes sense to sell in blocks. Less stewarding as a posed to everyone scattered out most clubs with extra capacity do this. Also why would you want to risk sitting in an empty area? Pretty lonely

Upper Ninian apart, there there are no 'empty' areas, though...just areas with less fans than others! :thumbright:

Those areas were empty on Saturday morning though? The corners and block in family were completely empty then filled a little.

Yes, that's the irony of the ticketing system that appears to allow 'Block by Block' sales. Sometimes, people would like to sit with friends or just in a certain Section :thumbright:

Totally agree with this. I’m not a season ticket holder as I can only get to so many games a season, but they should definitely get priority for tickets. There is also no need for away membership anymore the City hooligan days are long gone.

Buying tickets on-line has been a shambles for ages. For instance try and buy a ticket for the Wolves game on Friday 6th April. Only seats available on-line are in the Ninian stand 112/113 and that's only quantity 25 and don't expect to be able to sit next to your mate/wife/kds(no seats together). No seats (standing) available in the Canton End?????? Previously buying tickets on-line was easy and convenient now I either queue on the day or order by phone which both result in higher ticket prices, maybe that's why on-lne is s**t. :bluebird: :bluescarf: :old:

For me it's a lot easier to get to many away games than at home and although I don't get to any where near as many away games as I'd like for the £30 quid for mwmbershio or so that allows me to get a ticket it's a fair price I'm happy to pay.

If I lived in Cardiff I'd be a season ticket holder so for me it's a small way of giving something back into the club even if I only use it a few times a year.

The ticketing of the Brentford game worked absolutely fine for me, I’m an away member, go to around 10+ away games and usually just rock up on the day, as our away support has been dire for the last couple of years. I knew Brentford would sell out as we all did. So I made sure I ordered on line the day after they went on sale. No problem, ticket it in post two days later. It’s just the fact that people have been caught out by demand and were too slow to purchase tickets.

If the club announced that they would reward the regulars between now and the end of the season we may see an increase in our away support which has been a disappointing to say the least. When we were in the Premier League the club did this and even last season, tickets for a couple of games were prioritised for those who had already been to a couple of games. Villa was one I recall. I cant see how you can not justify giving those who go to places like Barnsley, Ipswich and Preston for a mid week game priority over some one who hasn't been away all season. The two games which were bound to sell out early were Burton and Brentford. Any regular realised that, and if whoever is in charge of ticketing didn't, he/she should get a new job.
