Neil Harris: Millwall will bounce back against Cardiff

Wednesday February 7, 2018

John Kelly

NEIL Harris insisted Millwall will have no problem getting over their FA Cup disappointment before they face Cardiff City at The Den on Friday night.

The Lions lost 1-0 to Rochdale in their replay in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday, denying them a shot at Tottenham in the next round.

Harris had no complaints with the result against Keith Hill’s Dale, who won after Ian Henderson scored the only goal of the game.

Rochdale are now set to welcome Spurs to Spotland, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side overwhelming favourites to defeat Newport on Wednesday evening.

“That added the extra spice, I think most people expect Spurs to win the game,” Harris said. “We had a great cup run last season, so I’d love to have won tonight and played Tottenham in the next round. But our big focus is the league and we’ll turn our attentions quickly to Cardiff on Friday night.

“We’ve always bounced back since I’ve been in charge, followed a disappointment with a positive. I said to the players we got beaten by the better team tonight, no complaints and no sulking about it. We’ve got great spirit and great lads. We didn’t play well, but no moaning about that from me.

“We’re having a great season. I’ve almost completed three years in charge as a manager and we’ve not had many low points. Tonight is a frustrating one. Our focus is on staying in the Championship, and we’re having a great season up until now.

“We’ve got to make sure we regroup after this, and we will because they are a fantastic bunch of guys. We look forward to being back at The Den Friday night.”

Can only see this as a big bonus for us...a long trip and extra 90 minutes for some players that will play us Friday and a loss against a team from a lower division

Millwall fans are not happy that they played a weaker team last night with a Spurs game for the winners..it would have been like us playing Mansfield away with a weak team and losing

Will probably keep the crowd down be a few thousand on Friday night as well
