Chris Coleman's sleepless nights
(Sunderland)The Black Cats boss said:
We’re (in the Championship’s) bottom three, away to Bristol City next week and we either succumb to it, think it’s too much for us, or we can’t match the challenge and become engulfed in it all or, alternatively, be bigger than that, not swallowing it. It doesn’t guarantee you success, but it guarantees you an easy night’s sleep.
As a manager the number of good night’s sleep you have during a season are not many.
If we were an absolute waste of time and I thought we had no chance of getting out of this, I’d probably go and say to Martin (Bain, the chief executive), ‘Come on, let’s have a chat – I can’t, we haven’t got it, there’s not enough here.’ But there is a chance for us to get out of it and that’s when you get sleepless nights.

Was gonna be a massive task for any manager to rescue Sunderland who are absolute garbage, I feel for their fans who pay their hard earned money to watch a group of players not give a damn if they go down.

They have been in decline for sometime, they played kids against us and while they have enthusiasm it's not what they need in a relegation dog fight. I can see them going down.

I don't know what it is with the Sunderland managers job that tempts people?
Almost like they look at all the previous managers and think they will be the one who turns it around.

That also but do you think some managers have that outlook that because so many have failed over the years there that they could be the one to turn it around and fancy themselves?

Chris clearly saw it as a challenge that he thought he could succeed with. Still a while to go, but not looking good.

He done it for Wales, all he needs to do is sign Bale, Ramsey and put Ashley Williams in a time machine and sign him, and they can get out !!!
Overrated Manager, they are going down !!!
Also Wales will struggle now Bale's knackered and Ashley has declined so quickly !

If he can't sleep at night instead of counting sheep he could count his money.

Terrible decision by Coleman to go there. It was clear the Jack's job was gonna come soon. Should have waited for that or a more worthy job. Or stay with Wales. Money talks

A decision he no doubt talked to his family with as I believe his initial plans were to move to a European club.
I think it was a decision he took because if successful, he would have taken Sunderland to the Premiership, built up his reputation further and gone on to land a big money job to set himself and his family up for life.
Alternatively, it's likely it won't work out, he will get sacked and receive a handsome payoff, which will again set him up nicely.
It's a win/win situation for a maximum of a couple of years work if you think about it.

He would of got a decent contract whatever job he went for. I think he made a right pigs ear going to Blunderland

he's a very average manager - and going to a place like sunderland is not what you do if you are average as you will be shown up.
he should have gone to a more stable club. it's possible sunderland is the only serious offer he got, though.
