Millwall Away

Mon Feb 05, 2018 3:12 pm

Hi all bluebirds, first post on the forum!
Apologies if this has been asked or answered already.
Few of us heading to Millwall on Friday, first time there for us all. Anyone know any usual spots/pubs that away fans drink, or anywhere that's any good in London? Few things online reckon away fans should stay away from pubs around the ground as home fans only, and usually suggest going to London Bridge area instead? If anyone could give us a better idea that'd be great.
Cheers

Away fans usually drink in barrow boy pub outside
London Bridge train st, if going by train Millwall is one stop from there, no pubs around the ground
Away fans once in Bermondsey st have their own walkway to the ground up

I’d stay in central London mate..I’ve drunk around the ground, it’s a shithole. Millwall were waiting for us at London Bridge also. Because it’s us, they’ll likely be out.

If you go by train from my experience you will usually be ok to drink in pubs near London Bridge station, every time we've gone there the only Millwall we have encountered have been their shirters and no problem whatsoever. If you want to play it really safe though stick to drinking in Central London. When you get on the train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey you will have Millwall on the train but it's only a short journey, one stop, and when you get off at S. Bermondsey away fans have a separate fenced off walkway right to the Away turnstiles. At the end of the game you will be held back until the police let you back up to the platform. Stay safe Bluebird. :bluescarf:

Personally I would have the afternoon drinking around Covent Garden and/or Camden and then make my way to The Den.
Stay safe.

If your around London Bridge early then you could always go for A drink in the Shard. Very expensive and no place for a shed full but the view of London as dusk falls is fantastic and worth the extra couple of quid on a beer. No trainers though and you need to be closer to 4pm than 5 as the queue's start building from then.

Commiserations! I missed the Sunderland game, and had been hoping to go to Mansfield. Not real 'flu, but felt lousy. Two wins and eight goals. Get well soon!

If you are drinking around London Bridge, as its a Friday afternoon/ early evening it will probably be very busy with a fair smattering of City of London types just finishing work and having a few drinks. Guaranteed to get your back up. The George, just down from the Bridge -about a quarter of a mile or so I seem to remember - is a really unusual pub and definitely worth a visit.
