Leeds dismiss manager Thomas Christiansen after six months in charge

BBC

Sunday 4th Feb 2018

Leeds have sacked manager Thomas Christiansen after only six months in charge at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire club are 10th in the Championship having failed to win since Boxing Day and lost 4-1 at home to Cardiff on Saturday.

Christiansen, 44, who formerly managed Cypriot side APOEL, also saw his team beaten in the FA Cup by League Two Newport County.

Leeds will now be looking for their seventh manager since 2014.

That club is definitely a basket case. Who would want to take on that job!

Not surprised.

Not the same team they were under Garry Monk.

The chants of "You're getting sacked in the morning" from both sets of fans wasn't that far out then!

Played Cardiff twice lost two , conceded 7 scored 2 plus 2 sendings off . 6 points conceded .

And just as Leeds United fans think it couldn't get any worse...

'Not now, not ever': Leeds United fans respond to claims Steve McClaren was spotted at Elland Road
By Joe Mewis

Rumours circulated around social media that the former England and Middlesbrough boss was present for the Cardiff defeat

It's fair to say it was a bad day of the office for Leeds United against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Not only did the Whites suffer a 4-1 defeat, which was another blow for their faltering play-off chances, but Thomas Christiansen also saw Pontus Jansson leave the pitch injured while Gaetano Berardi was sent off, further exasperating United's defensive crisis.

And that, it would go to prove, would be all she wrote for the Dane, as the Leeds board sent him on his way on Sunday evening.

United now sit seven points off the play-off spots in tenth-place and face a tough run of fixtures over the next month beginning with the trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Dane may have seen the writing on the wall if rumours going around Twitter following the Bluebirds defeat were to be believed, with several Leeds fans claiming they saw former England Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren at Elland Road for the match.

While there has been no official confirmation that McClaren was present at Elland Road, it didn't stopped fans putting 2+2 together on social media - and they didn't like what they came up with.

McClaren grew up a Leeds fan and was strongly linked with the Elland Road job in 2002, when David O'Leary was sacked - but it would appear most United fans do not want him in, now Christiansen has departed.

Not that I want to see Leeds succeed in anything but shouldn't they sack the board. It is their decision making on which manager is in charge and they have failed repeatedly.

Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again

Leeds really need to get act together.

Their board must take the blame

Mike, 100% the blame lays at the door of their board/owners :thumbright:

Makes a nice change for a club to sack their manager AFTER we've beaten them.

Usually they're sacked before we play them and we then have to face a team going all out to impress the new manager.

For example, Birmingham away this season.
